This abhorrent criminal plan for ethnic cleansing in Gaza is "hiding in plain view". It calls for the depopulation of Gaza of its Arab population and their replacement with Israeli Jews. That is totally contrary to the basis upon which the U.S. and UN supported the creation of Israel -- namely that British mandate Palestine outside Israel's 1948 UN designated borders be Arab. It is a plan for genocide because no Palestinian will ever again flee from Palestinian land, even to save their life. They did so in 1948 (thinking it was temporary) and “won’t be fooled again”. 

Incredibly, Feiglin’s Plan has received essentially no coverage (either in mainstream or social media spaces). Despite the fact that the on-going slaughter (now in blatant defiance of a binding UN Security Council resolution) is obviously the first phase of this Likud “final solution” of “the Palestinian problem”. (I have repeatedly called attention to it in online comments and even resorted to "tweeting" about it, thus far seemingly to no avail. Anyone willing and able to make a reasoned evaluation of what is motivating the IDF's grotesque barbaric actions can see that Israel's extremist Likud leaders are now in fact seeking what JFK called in his American University speech "the peace of the grave". (Noxious Israeli demonstrators are overtly chanting their support for Feiglin's plan to turn Gaza into a cemetery.) Netanyahu latest statement about continuing IDF operations until "quiet" (the same word Feiglin used) is achieved in Gaza is the latest "dog whistle" to Israel's Likud extremists that the Feiglin plan for ethnic cleansing leading to genocide is on track.

History has come full circle: The victims of European genocide have now become the perpetrators of a genocide-in-progress against the Palestinian Arabs of Gaza. Now, as then, the moral and geopolitical interests of the American people compel us to stop it. It is unthinkable that President Obama, Kerry and Hagel are prepared to witness a genocide on their watch. Alas, it has begun and shows no sign of letting up. 

Indeed, it is evident that Likud extremists are running what amounts to a complex experiment (not unlike the Nazi medical and other torture experiments against the Jews): 

* wantonly slaughtering whole communities of defenseless Palestinian civilians on a daily basis, intentionally creating what I've called "one Guernica a day" with high-tech weaponry,

* flooding the media and diplomatic channels with Orwellian propagandistic rationales issued by smarmy spokespersons speaking "the King's English" (as Mary McCarthy said of Lillian Hellman, "everything Israeli officials say is a lie, even 'and' and 'the'"), and 

* carefully gauging the world's reaction.

Plainly the U.S. reaction is the only one that matters to these latter-day Mengales, Goebbels and Freislers. It is troubling, to say the least, that thus far, American leaders have been so slow to recognize (and are in fact showing signs of gross disorientation about) what is going on right before their eyes, and what they must do to stop Israel's murderous onslaught. This must and (I have to believe) will CHANGE.

As happened in Rwanda, genocides can happen fast. And Israel has much more sophisticated weapons than machetes. Given the kind of weapons being used and the disease conditions inexorably being created, if Israel's military operations accelerate (as appears to be happening), we could be presented with a fait accompli before we are able to act. (Nor, alas, can Israel's Likud extremists' use of biological weapons be ruled out. Anything to create the kind of emergency that might justify an attempted mass evacuation of Gaza.) And because Palestinians will die in place rather than be driven from their land again, the death toll could go from thousands to tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands and ultimately to millions in a matter of a few weeks.

The United States is NOT going to allow that to happen. Period. 

President Obama and John Kerry must gather by now that talking is not working. Israel's unspeakable (terrorist) acts of obliterating Gaza's densely populated urban enclaves (using American weaponry) have continued apace: witness their horrific gratuitous slaughter today of 40 Palestinian civilians within 3 hours of the onset of the 72 hour truce they had agreed upon.

What is needed is utterly decisive ACTION. There is no time to depend upon indirect or symbolic acts such as U.S. funding cut-backs or UN sanctions.

Let us now proudly and swiftly send an American armada the size of the one that landed on the beaches of Normandy to the beaches of Gaza, invade the whole of Gaza, Israel and the West Bank, save the Palestinians and put the Israelis and Palestinians under American receivership for at least 2 centuries, giving all the inhabitants of the former British mandate territory an opportunity to make amends and get along in an atmosphere of personal security for all. (Details -- territory status or U.S. statehood -- to be arranged later, via a referendum of the entire populace of Israelis and Palestinians.) 

The president also needs to show the Israelis and Palestinians "how we roll" here in America (that is, in our integrated, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural society):  He should order the Joint Chiefs to request that American Jewish and Arab members of their service branches (including Reservists willing to be called to Active Duty) volunteer for the U.S. armada to storm the beaches of Gaza. The request for such vols should extend to retired members of the branches and reserves under 65 and in good health. The presence of large numbers of American Jews and Arabs in the invasion force will lessen the image of the action as yet another atavistic U.S. Crusader-type military intervention. (Obviously, the Palestinians will greet us as liberators. As will all non-perverse Israelis -- and to hell with the other Israelis, literally and figuratively). These American Jewish and Arab volunteers should be assembled in mixed teams with Hebrew and Arab speakers. The Israelis and Palestinians will not be able to tell them (the members of these teams) apart physically.

And yes, this middle-aged (Jewish) long ago honorably discharged Naval Reservist will re-enlist to help America and the cause of human decency to win again.

If the Holocaust (my father's German-Jewish family fled from) teaches us anything, it is that "never again" applies to EVERYONE.

@Joe Soap @ECJ_LA  Thanks Joe. I'll take that as a "second". Do I hear a "third"? We need to get this idea into the mainstream public debate, where it belongs.

And since you've given me the chance, let me elaborate on my proposal a bit:

The U.S. humanitarian intervention and annexation and long-term (but not indefinite) occupation of the whole of Palestine/Israel I am advocating need not necessarily be adversarial. In many ways, making Palestine/Israel a U.S. territory or 51st state would be the natural culmination of the "special relationship" the U.S. and Israel have had from the beginning. I would venture that the vast majority of Israelis, on reflection, would welcome a 2 century respite from militancy and the personal security umbrella it would provide under which to engage in the type of genuine peace and reconciliation that European Jewry should have pursued in predominantly Arab Palestine from the beginning, instead of the harebrained goal of an all-Jewish enclave (a sort of affluent small-state-sized version of the Warsaw ghetto, in which they now had the powers of their Nazi persecutors). As President Kennedy said in a speech to members of the U.S. Israeli lobby in the summer of 1960: "I cannot believe that Israel has any real desire to remain indefinitely a garrison state surrounded by fear and hate." Kennedy's entire speech is well worth a look. It represents the kind of responsible, engaged and hopeful (yet realistic) leadership that is woefully missing today. Then presidential-candidate JFK makes reference to the need for Israeli "flexibility" on the Palestinians right of return. Although he does so far more in passing than he did in 1951 when he returned from a tour of the region and expressed candid concern for the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians (he referred to them generically as Arabs) driven out of what became Israel proper in 1948, many of whom were internally exiled in the Gaza strip, where they and their heirs remain today.

One of the benefits of my proposal is that it would afford the parties a lengthy window of time to conduct an orderly and peaceable return of Palestinians to their homeland within Israel proper. The U.S. federal judiciary can become the forum for dispute resolution and issue binding edicts, which, as in the American South during the civil rights era, the U.S. military would ultimately be responsible for enforcing.

If U.S. annexation has to occur by force (and given extremist Likud intransigence, it may well be) I've actually given a fair amount of thought to how this new Normandy invasion should go (going well above my former Petty Officer Intelligence Specialist paygrade): 

In the run-up to D-Day, every member of our American armada should be shown this video to remind them of "why we fight": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w84oEbtZOHU They should told (the truth): that we [are] opposing a former (and future) ally that has lost its way and become sadistic serial murderers of Arab children and that the brainwashed Israeli public has registered their overwhelming support for the action of the Israeli leadership carrying out this sociopathic action, that the goal espoused by the Deputy Speaker of their parliament (and which privately guides their Prime Minister and military) is ethnic cleansing of the entirety of Gaza and the West Bank, that this will result in genocide of up to 5 million Palestinians (because Palestinians will die in place rather than be removed from their homeland, where they have every right to be and to live), that the UN has authorized genocide prevention and the U.S. is the only world power that can stop the Israelis. (By D-Day the UN will have authorized the use of force.) 

 Our troops should also be reminded that the Israelis "started it" with the intentional murder of 4 10-year old children playing soccer on the same beach (that they are about to storm) and that it's their job to "end it". Also, that the mission cannot fail and that our country's Commander in Chief and our military leaders will ensure the success of their mission by any means necessary, up to and including retaliatory tactical nuclear strikes on military facilities within Israel proper if Israel dares to resist our invasion by force. Obviously, it is doubtful that Israelis would be so insane as to provoke their own destruction in order to spurn U.S. annexation, given how friendly we have been and would remain toward them.

 Lastly, I do not advocate that the president, Secretary Kerry, Secretary Hagel and the Joint Chiefs undertake a humanitarian military intervention in Palestine/Israel entirely unilaterally. Obviously, if hostilities with Israel do occur (or in the remote event we meet resistance from Palestinians) and last more than a short time, the Administration would have to respect and comply with the War Powers Act and obtain Congressional approval.

(I have been a strong opponent of unilateral presidential war-making and went so far as to mount a protest candidacy against my incumbent Congressman, Anthony Beilenson, in 1986 primarily due to his vote in support of President Reagan's ill-conceived deployment of Marines in Lebanon, which in 1983 got 241 of them killed by the first suicide truck bomber of the modern era.)

While much of the world is calling for a cease-fire in Gaza, U.S. lawmakers are pushing the Obama administration to put no pressure on Israel to halt its military operations.

According to The Associated Press, many lawmakers also want to approve a 5 million request from the Defense Department to bolster Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system.

It's as if Israel's diabolical Likud Party authors are testing whether their repetition of a trope – "Hamas, Hamas, Hamas"..."tunnels, tunnels, tunnels" – can cause American viewers (which is the only audience they care about) not to register the meaning of the sociopathic carnage being conducted right in front of their eyes! (This really is Riefenstal/Goebbels/Nazi propaganda territory.)

Obama and Kerry's condoning of Israel's murderous blitzkrieg is as shameful as anything I have seen my country do in my entire life (6 decades). It makes the US look like "a pitiful helpless giant" in Nixon's phrase.
