words and how they are used in witchcraft
im not only a witch, i am also a writer. literature and words have always been a huge part of who i am, hence this post. i wanted to tell you a bit about words and how they are used in witchcraft.
oftentime, you will see in rituals and spellbooks incantations to say out-loud as you’re doing your spellwork. this may be an unpopular opinion, but i think using the words of another to manifest your own intent is kinda… unpersonal. i personally advice to write your own incantations, in the way that feels the most natural to you. they can take the form of a poem, a slam, a song, anything quite frankly as long as they suit YOU and YOUR needs
single sentences are often used in any kind of divination work, even if they can be used in rituals and spellwork. they are shorter, yet they give enough details to be able to answer a question, or deliver an intent. it’s best not to make them too long though, otherwise it kinda looses its clarity.
this type of wording is, imo, best adapted to manifestation and creating sigils. in my opinion, a one-word phrase can be compared to the striking of a lightning bolt. it’s precise, accurate and it strikes one specific spot.
👁🗨 start a collection of words you like the sound or the meaning of. then you can incorporate them in your spells or meditate on them for a while
👁🗨 when you’re in need of advice, open up a book at a random page and read the first word on it
👁🗨 try automatic writing, especially when you’re feeling connected
👁🗨 experiment with the style of your writing. just like fonts, you can create some really artistic visuals by tracing words on paperback
👁🗨 journaling is also an interesting option
👁🗨 just writing in general ~
