This is what our brain brings for day to day activity.
One of the things I like most about "Tesis" (1996) is its ending. Throughout the film, we can see this world of explicit cinema through Angela’s inexperienced eyes. Those eyes are also ours since, as it is assumed, most viewers are unfamiliar with this type of content. Thus, when Angela calls the people who consume it sick, this is precisely the viewer’s thought. Little by little the plot develops and we reach the end. The film ends with a journalist about to broadcast the explicit images. That’s when the viewer, who has been judging Chema throughout the film, is surprised to find themselves waiting for those images. Amenábar shows us with this work that, no matter how much we try to think of ourselves as "decent" people, we all end up falling into the morbid curiosity within us. Everyone can be Chema.
Do you suppose it's fashionable in (Fallen) London to make up your face to look like you've been in the sun?
In the actual period, of course, being as fair as possible was desirable in England--the upper classes going so far as to walk around with parasols and wide-brimmed hats, or earlier in the century, cloth masks, and there was, of course, always the option to simply powder one's face. All these things were representative of wealth--not needing to labor outdoors, being able to afford powders and fanciful hats and such. But in the Neath, out of the sun, everyone is paler than those on the Surface. Maybe it would be more fashionable to try to look sun-kissed? Heavy blush might become popular. Darker powders to make skin look tanned or more robust. Again--all symbolic of wealth. Can you afford these cosmetics? Do you have the time and light and mirrors or a servant to apply them?
It might not be all that popular among the Bazaarines or the Nocturnals, but the Celestials? The nobility still clinging to the power and influence of the Surface? I can see it becoming a cornerstone of fashion.
my entire body just goes through pain randomly and idk why. but i just deal with it. I'll be FINEEEE trust.... i don't know what's wrong but i don't think I'll ever find out in this country so it's fine
We all have that fandom we're terrified of because the people in it are amazing.
Some people are going to scroll past this post
I mean fair play, this isn't your usual shitpost you often see from me
But that doesn't matter, this message is for the scrollers, the ignorers, the haters. It's for everyone.
You matter
Maybe you don't feel it, maybe no one has ever said it to you.
But everything you do, everything you ARE, matters
Every time you convert oxygen into carbon dioxide
Every time your heart beats and moves blood though your veins
Every electron and proton and neutron making up your body matters
But it's not just the science that makes you matter.
Your hobbies you've spent hours perfecting
Your personality carefully carved out by your experiences
Your achievements and failures and climbs and falls and hopes and despairs and wills to fight and wills to give up all matter.
Everything about you matters.
You are incredible.
You are extraordinary.
You are you.
And that is the best thing you can be
Bless Pathologic Classic for giving all of the doctors sick ass leather gloves
Thinking about Pathologic 3 so far and struck by how subtly but notably the tone has shifted from 1 and 2.
The writing in Patho1 is a very cold, everyone and everything is pushing you away which works in service to that infamous alienating tone it has. Patho2's by comparison is actually a very warm, human game. A lot of people hated you, but many more cherished you, there's a much more intimate emotionality between even your enemies, so when people start dying it feels visceral, personal, like watching your hometown die in front of you - because You Are Artemy.
Patho3's thus far has been neither warm nor cold, but absurd (in the theatrical sense). The whole narrative is deeply unmoored from time, place, and consequence, we are everywhere and nowhere at once, at all times. As a result, so many interactions have this baked in futility, a base assumption that 'yeah, we know how this goes and we're fucked. Nothing to be done.' to it all.
Daniil's story is to fight against that; to resist the urge to buy into the absurdism so inherent to the world he's in and violently grab onto incoherent hopes. It's not defeatist, far from it, but, well.
It's Apathy and Mania.
Anyone who reblogs this will be sent a random silly ask
I mean it. I'm bored and don't want to do homework so if you want to be interacted with more that's what I'm here for.
