“Red wine?” Clarification more than anything, he had seen her drink choices on multiple occasions and knew well enough that she did not prefer hard liquor. Turning on his heels as soon as he had asked the question, wandering from the entryway through the living room and into the kitchen. A finger running over the various bottles that lined his wall. A decently aged bottle pulled and placed on the counter, cork pulled, and two glasses placed on the counter beside the bottle.
“No, it is not my preference, but as I’ve said I am old in my ideals. Pictures are impersonal. There’s no courting involved in sending a picture of genitals and expecting someone to swoon in response. There is enough of that on the internet.”

While her agreement was unexpected, with how little he used his home it was nearly always prepared for company. The large home cleaned before his arrival by his dutiful housekeeper who had worked for his father before him, and now worked for him prior to his fathers passing. Leaving the only thing for him to do was to become properly decent before she arrived. A pair of loose sweat pants tied around his hips, and his glasses propped on his nose.
When the doorbell rang it was alerted to him by the sound of his mightyena Abyssal from downstairs as she began to howl at the door. The sound carrying through the empty house until she was waved off and he opened the entrance for her to step inside. “You had no trouble finding it, I take it?” He questioned, shutting the door behind her. “You actually arrived sooner than I had expected. It is fairly far away from the base after all.”

A bonus check, in honor of your betrayal for the man who placed his utmost trust and confidence in you.” What came to follow was a harsh laugh, forced and dry as a grim smile ghosted over his lips.
“If I may? I believe I have a question that would be fitting for such a situation– For what reason should I not turn you into an example? Give me one reason, why I should not have you strung up at the entrance for grunts to see exactly what happens when you go against me.”

No response given, even after Tabitha had finished speaking, silence so thick that it sounded as if each of his foot steps were atomic bombs. Crossing in front of his desk, and back again, pondering what had been said with utmost care until all at once–
His laughter started deep in his chest, and bubbled over low at first, rising steadily until he could hardly contain himself. Loud and boisterous, Maxie’s hand raised to cover his mouth though it did little to muffle

A chimp could be trained to do the same given the right conditions, at the very least, they would have a bigger sense of loyalty to the hand who feeds them.”
