[ Hey fellow RPers! Just a short little note to you all: I know I haven’t been very active recently, and that has nothing to do with any of my RP partners or anything like that! You’re all great and I would love to play more with everyone, but the long and short of it is that classes have started back up again and, more importantly, I will now be working a full-time job as of tomorrow until sometime in March and will have significantly less time to RP. I will try my best to be online in the evenings if the inspiration strikes, but I just wanted to let you all know that I’m still around, just very quiet! You can find me over on my personal (code-rage​) and Skype, and I’m always up for chatting about whatever (whether it be RP stuff or not), so don’t be afraid to talk to me! <3 ]

Edward, have you heard of Mia from the Greil Mercenaries?

"Sure have! Her swordplay is great! I’d love to spar with her sometime. And I hear she starts her training right at dawn—I bet she’s just as dedicated to her sword work as I am! Oh man… now I’m itching to see which one of us is better!"

She raised her sword up as she stood her ground, keeping an eye on him. Seeing what kind of move he’s going to pull off. Mia wouldn’t underestimate her opponents, so she would sometimes pull a trick move to fool her opponents.

With her strategy set she charged blindly at him. She made it look like she’s going to swim her sword to the left, but she then switched to the right at the last possible second, in case he tries to block.

The assault came far quicker than Edward was expecting, but he was ready for it. A hard swing to the left—wait! Mia’s eyes flickered away just before their swords connected, and Edward just barely managed to shift his defense to block her real attack. A feint, huh? He should’ve expected as much. There was a light sting somewhere on his arm, and Edward realized belatedly that she’d nicked him with her last blow.

He quickly pushed their blades apart before she could regain her momentum, stepping back and distancing them once again. She was strong, but Edward was fairly sure he could beat her out in a contest of pure strength. He followed up with a straightforward lunge, mimicking her movements from earlier. Maybe he could bluff a feint?

"Huh? Oh, it’s you." At least she was less scary than he remembered. "Right. Uh… what was your name again?"

An audible sigh of relief escaped Edward when he overheard their quick exchange. So he DID get away…

"What did you want with him, anyway?" he asked, his tone a little less friendly and a little more accusing than before. His manners were forgotten and he barely paid any mind to the newcomer. If they hurt him…

"Oh I haven't checked to an inn yet." an idea popped into the swordmaster's head and he slyly wrapped an arm round his young pupil's shoulders in a friendly and no way imposing manner.

"Saaay Edward, how about we room up together? That way we wont have aaany trouble getting up on time and meeting up in the morning yeh?" and maybe save me a penny or two on lodging

Edward leaned away slightly, surprised at Stefan's actions (not to mention a little intimidated—Stefan was much bigger than him, after all). "Oh, uh, sure?" he answered, "puzzled" written all over his face. Stefan had always seemed to vanish on his own in the short time he was with their ragtag army, so he'd never struck Edward as a very touchy-feely person, but he'd been wrong about people before. "As long as you're fine with it. We can probably find someplace near here." Admittedly, the area was a bit foreign to him as well, since he'd caught Stefan in the middle of his own journey. But Edward was familiar enough with traveling that finding an inn wouldn't be much of a problem.

"Well, we've still got some time to kill before we need to find a room for the night," he hummed thoughtfully. Eating had re-energized him, and he wasn't feeling quite as worn out as before. "Hey, what brings you out here, anyway? Don't you normally live out in the... uh... the middle of the desert, or something?"

[ I’m sorry I’ve been so inactive on my RP blogs guys, I tend to binge on RP for a while and then go silent for long periods of time while I do other things. Crap, Tormod was good at this. Words weren't exactly Edward's strong suit. This was getting difficult.

"Y-Your... your face is a—a prune—!" With a cry of utter exasperation, Edward drew his sword. "Argh, that's it! I challenge you to a duel!"

well to be honest i kinda Uuuuh…tried to get with him at the palace of earth spirits….trough a geyser…but then one of my friends with the name Parsee took him away from me…now that’s a shame

Edward’s eyes widened. “You what?" he squawked, probably louder than he should have. Now he sort of regretted asking, let alone telling her Leonardo’s name. There was probably a reason Leo hadn’t mentioned it to her—he was smart like that. Edward wasn’t. "Wait a second, you tried to—to—" He wasn’t exactly sure what she’d tried to do, but it was starting to scare him a little. Obviously these ravens were no friends of Leo, if Utsuho didn’t even know his name. Had she actually succeeded in taking him back to the underground? Did he ever leave...? “W-Wait, when did this happen? What did your friend do with him?” Edward’s imagination was running wild. “Is he okay?! Where is he?!”

"Long blond hair and blue clothes, huh? He was probably carrying a bow and arrows, right? And he wears like twenty belts? And he’s really serious all the time?" Here Edward stood up straight and mimed a disapproving, grumpy frown, pursing his lips for added effect. "Yeah, that’s definitely him!"

She gripped the handle of her sword as she kept her eye on him. She admit, he’s really quick on his feet. “(Alright Mia, remember your sparring matches with the commander.)” She said in her thoughts as she was swift away from each strike. Ready to take a counterstrike the moment she spots an opening.

Wow, she’s fast! Edward wasn’t quite used to the feeling of his blade cutting through nothing but empty air. He pressed his offensive, getting more aggressive with each strike. Mia couldn’t keep dodging forever—or could she? She clearly wasn’t lacking for speed. Maybe it was best if he tried to gauge her strength instead…

Edward adjusted his footwork ever so slightly, stepping just a little closer into her range with every dodge in an attempt to force her to hit back or block his attacks rather than evading them.

Oh! hum… well it’s the palace of earth spirits on the other way to former hell which was abandoned by the earth spirits and this is now where i live maybe i can get you here… i think i might’ve tried to get one of your friends here…you both had almost the same smell…

Edward blinked stupidly. As usual, what she was saying made absolutely no sense. "Palace? So... are you royalty or something?" He had no idea what these "earth spirits" were either, but something else had already caught his attention. "Wait, did you say you know one of my friends?!" That seemed unlikely, but he couldn't help asking anyway. Maybe, just maybe, it was true. (He decided to ignore the bit about the smell—it wasn't uncommon for laguz to make odd comments like that, after all.) "What did they look like? Did they tell you their name?"

"O-Oh, yeah. I’m Edward," he replied hastily, feeling a little guilty for not giving his name first (someone had once told him it was good manners to do that, but now he couldn’t remember who it was). Then again, last time they’d met, he’d been a little too freaked out by her appearance to think about manners. "So I guess I’ll call you Utsuho, then? I’ve never heard a name like that before… I guess you weren’t kidding when you said you were from underground." He paused, curiosity getting the better of him. "Hey, um… where is the ‘Underground’ you’re from? Is it like a bunch of caves or something?” Edward was having trouble picturing a bunch of bird girls living in caves, though. "Or maybe desert ruins? I thought ravens liked being up high, since they can fly and all that..."

"You lost me at "do you want to spar," like I told you you would," Rutger sighed exasperatedly. "What part of "I always go for the kill" don’t you understand? Go find Fir if you want someone to play with."

And people told Rutger that he was tightly-wound.

"What do you mean, I don’t know you? What’s that got to do with it? Why would i be out for your blood? I’ve never seen you before, it’s not like you killed my fami—"

Damn it. That was more than he’d meant to say.

"Rutger," he answered, hoping that it would distract the other boy.

Edward froze, stuck on the other’s half-finished words. “Killed your…?” he repeated quietly, almost to himself. Did he just say what I think he said? "Um... so it's Rutger, right? What... what happened to you?"

Maybe they had more in common than he thought.
