Can I request a fic for eddie?
I have constant chronic pain. It is literally everywhere that has joints or muscle but it is the worst in the lower back, neck, shoulders and hands.
Sometimes it gets so bad I can't move without wanting to scream. And Sometimes my joints lock or my muscles seize and I literally can't move at at.
Rubbing or heating it helps, but I have never been able to get full relief. Partially to my inability to get close to people
I was wondering if you could write for a reader with something like this? (Or just normal chronic pain)
Maybe he didnt know about it (I tend to not share as it makes people pity me) till the reader has a bad day or locks up in front of them (sometimes my knees just buckle and I drop) (and then can't move for like thirty minutes).
Or just anything really, I'm having a bad day and would love the comfort
Loved your vamp Eddie BTW. Would love to see a part two if you want to write it :)
(So sorry this took me a few days to get around to writing! I hope youâre not in much pain atm :( Iâm not well versed on chronic pain but I did a lil research so I hope its at least a lil factual! Thank you for the love on vamp!eddie <3333 a part 2 is on the way ~)
It doesnât matter how much time passes, every now and then a new pain crops up in a muscle or joint you didnât even know you had. Leaving you tender and slightly cranky at times.
No one apart from your parents knew about your condition, not wanting to see the looks of pity on peopleâs faces when they discover the constant acute pain youâre in. You hadnât even told your boyfriend, Eddie. He was the epitome of a bleeding heart, and you knew as soon as you told him, he would flit around you constantly. Heâd already stopped you from coming to his gigs for a while after a stray fist pump caught you in the temple. God knows how he would react to knowing how accustomed to that pain you already were.
You swear youâre good at hiding the ache deep set in your muscles but today was truly the worst flare-up youâd had in years. Every small movement left your joints screaming in agony and all you wanted to do was lay in bed, motionless, and wait for it to pass. For the roaring flames licking at your every limb to dull down to the usual small sparks. But you had promised Eddie that the two of you would go out for a picnic, since the weather was just cool enough to avoid the normal sticky-hot heat of Indiana summer.
Even lifting the empty picnic basket left you nearly in tears, gulping down the lump forming in your throat as you step out the door. The trailer park was usually a brisk 10 minute walk but, with every agonising step, it took you over half an hour before you were slightly limping down the stone path to his trailer.
He was sitting on his porch, wild hair contained in a low bun, a lit cigarette hanging from his lips. He was effervescent, even in his usual attire of a Judas Priest t-shirt and ragged black, ripped jeans. The second he spotted you, those doe eyes sparkled and he began to bound down the road to meet you. Forcing yourself to walk as normal as possible, you brace for the impact of his hug.
Long arms wrap tightly around your shoulders, further igniting the intense flames blazing inside you. The searing pain is only dampened by his hand rubbing softly along the backs of your shoulders, appeasing the burning phoenix nestled there.
âHi, sweetheart. You ready to go? I got all the stuff ready on the table inside.â
Not trusting yourself to speak, you nod and allow him to guide you into his trailer. Each step feels like sharp needles being jabbed into the soles of your feet and you regret ever agreeing to this date.
âYou ok, sweets? Youâre looking a lil pale?â
You love Eddie, but at this moment, you hate just how perceptive he is. You look back from the table and try to give him a smile, but it comes out more like a grimace. âIâm ok, my love, just feeling a little under the weather today. Donât worry about me, we have a picnic to get to!â
Hoping the mention of the picnic will distract him, you return to packing the picnic basket. Fingers cramping around the small cucumber sandwiches heâd obviously spent a while making, you sense his presence as he leans his head on top of yours.
âYou sure? We can just chill here if youâre not feeling too good. I still have that copy of Ghostbusters that I convinced Steve to sneak out from Family Video.â
You love him, he is kind and sweet and just wants to make sure youâre ok.
You repeat these thoughts over and over in your mind, trying to extinguish the anger simmering low in your stomach. He did nothing to deserve your temper, but you were just in so much pain.
âCâmon darling, talk to me. Do you have a headache? Bad tummy? Do you have to poop?â
He lowers his voice at the end, jokingly as he pokes you in the side. The sting that emanates from the pressure is the final straw.
âJesus, Eddie! Do you not want to go to the picnic or something? Canât you just say that instead of trying to annoy me into not wanting to go? I said Iâm fine, why can you not just drop it!â
Obviously not expecting your reaction, he recoils slightly, hands frozen as they hover over your sides. You feel awful for yelling at him but the way you tensed your whole body makes you feel like every nerve is igniting all at once. You go to turn to face him, leg twisting awkwardly, and before you can warn him, you drop to the floor, knees buckling under the intense pain.
You hit the ground, both knees slamming down painfully. Wincing, you know you wonât be able to move anytime soon so you resign yourself to slowly manoeuvring into a more comfortable position. Eddie finally snaps back into action, crouching down to match your line of sight.
âSweetheart?! You ok? What happened? Do you need to go to the hospital? I can take you in the van, itâs not too far -â
Before he can work himself up into more of a panic, you reach out and grab his hand, silencing him. âNo no, itâs fine. Honestly. This happens sometimes. Iâm sorry for yelling, Iâm just in a little bit of pain thatâs all.â
âLittle bit of pain? Youâre shaking.â
You hadnât even realised the hand wrapped around his is trembling slightly, too focused on the pain overtaking your body.
âIâm used to it, Eds. Just give me a few minutes.â
He huffs at this, moving to sit down across from you. His eyebrows are drawn tensely and you can already tell youâre about to receive one of his famous lectures.
âYouâre not ok. Youâre sweating and shaking and obviously in pain. You donât need to hide it from me. Iâm your boyfriend, Iâm supposed to look after you if youâre not feeling well, the same way you look after me. Now what do you mean youâre used to it? Tell me whatâs happening, I just wanna help you, darling.â
Despite the pain in your fingers, you entangle them around his, using them to ground yourself. Squeezing them periodically to stop them from fully seizing, you look into his worried eyes.
âDonât go all mother hen on me, ok? I suffer from chronic pain. And I mean suffer. This shit sucks. Normally I can handle it, but Iâm in the middle of a flare up so it feels like every single part of my body is on fire. All at the same time. Iâve had it for a while and itâs never been this bad.â
âBabyâŠâ
There it is. The pity in his eyes. You hate it.
âDonât you dare pity me, Eddie Munson. I can deal with it. Itâs just sometimes my legs lock up or my knees buckle and it takes me a while to be able to get up and walk. Iâll be fine in like 30 minutes or so, and then weâre going on that damn picnic.â
The pity dissipates from his eyes, left with only mirth. He leans forward, pressing a small kiss to the furrow of your brow. âOk, sweets. Damn, I donât know how you do it. I get a cold and Iâm out for a whole week. Youâre, like, metal as fuck, you know that, right?â
You smile back, feeling your muscles slacken at his compliments, the flames rearing back a bit but still licking harshly at your muscles. Squeezing his hand once more, you smirk at him. âSo that means Iâm more metal than you?â
âOh, definitely. Canât believe I landed the most metal babe around. Damn, Iâm lucky.â
âAnd donât you forget it, Munson.â
You both sit for a moment, enjoying the comfortable silence surrounding you. Eddie moves, and you can almost see the lightbulb form over his head as he shoots up from the ground.
âIs there anything I can get you that will help? Wayneâs got a hot water bottle here somewhere for when his back plays up. Or we have frozen peas? We might have a tube of Deep Heat around here somewhere.â
You lie back slowly, wincing with every movement. âA hot water bottle would be great, thanks.â
He moves to find it somewhere in the mess of Wayneâs room. At least you knew where Eddie got it from. Eyes closing, you allow yourself to relax into the carpet, willing the ache in your muscles to slowly ebb away. You listen as he sets the kettle on the stove, the sound of the gas sparking to light.
A few minutes pass, and you hear the shuffle of his sock-bound feet moving towards you. Eyes opening, you smile weakly up at him as he hands you the full hot water bottle. You rest it on your chest, not wanting to risk popping the seal if you placed it under you, hoping the warmth will soak through to the back of your aching shoulders.
âAnything else I can do for you, my liege?â He dips his head in a clumsy bow, pulling a small giggle from you.
âNo, I should be fine. Just gotta let it do its thing.â
He hums in response, coming to sit back down beside you. His hand rests on your knee, rubbing soothing circles into it. You canât help the sigh of relief at the feeling of his fingers pressing through the tender joint. His hand freezes at the sound.
âIâm sorry, did that hurt? I did it without thinking, Iâm sorry.â He goes to withdraw his hand but stops as a whine escapes you at the loss of warmth.
âNo, it feels good. Sometimes massaging it helps with the achiness.â
He continues to rub your knee, pressing in a little deeper as he gauges your reaction. Attentive as always, he switches between deep presses and light squeezes, depending on whether you relax or tense at his actions.
âThen consider me your personal masseuse.â
â
The cucumber sandwiches still get eaten, your body resting against Eddieâs as the two of you slowly work your way through the feast. He insists on feeding you, not wanting your fingers to hurt anymore than they already do.
You never got to the picnic site, but you couldnât think of a better way to get through your flare up than lying here on the scratchy trailer carpet floor with a boyfriend who alternates between massaging your knees and shoulders, and a cosy hot water bottle.
âš hi everyone! just to let you know my inbox is open for requests! any and everything is welcome but if it's smth i find i won't write i'll let you know!đ«¶
have you ever seen a vampire? one would like to meet you.
vamp!eddie x gn!reader
summary: A year after the recent string of unexplained happenings in Hawkins, your friend dares you to go into the woods. She heard there was a vampire.
warnings: mentions of violence and blood, j*son c*rver is mentioned, the ground did open up but it's all good now, no y/n used
You must have been a fool. You may have a 4.0 GPA, and a full-ride scholarship to Cal Tech but there was no other explanation for what you were currently doing, other than the fact that you must be stupid.
---
You were part of a small clique, often known as the ânerdsâ in high school. All that meant is you loved to read and would willingly wear scratchy, wool sweater vests, even if it led to the odd prickly rash around the back of your neck.
Your friends often skipped out on the lunch hall, opting to find solace in the quiet, dusty room rather than the raucous events that spread from table to table in the sticky-floored hall. Head buried deep in your dog-eared copy of Bram Stokerâs âDraculaâ, your attention is dragged away from the scene of Van Helsing placing blooms of garlic around young Lucyâs room by a friend sat opposite you.
âYou know, on the topic of vampires, did you hear what happened to Jenny Waller?â
Everyone had heard about poor Jenny. Dragged into the woods one night, found half alive and half mauled.
âDidn't Chief Hopper say it was an animal attack? Like a bear or something? My dad spent the weekend putting bear traps out around the edge of our house.â
Ever since news of a bear attack spread around the neighbourhood, your parents had been on edge. Since your house backed onto the local woods, you had been banned from stepping foot into your backyard until it was deemed safe by the police.
Your friend leans closer in, voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. âSee, Chief says it was a bear, but Jenny is convinced whatever had attacked her walked on two legs and was sufficiently less hairy.â
âSally, are you saying it was a vampire?â You scoffed at her insinuation, vampires didnât exist of course.
âWell, with the amount of freaky shit happening in Hawkins at the moment I wouldn't be surprised. Do you remember when the earthquake hit? And the sky was all dark and there was red lightning? Iâm telling you, it was a portal to hell and vampires could have definitely crawled up from it.â
âOk, I am taking away your copy of The Abyss when I find it. Hell isn't here on Earth, I can assure you. Unless you count the god awful smell of the boys locker room. That could definitely be Hellâs lair.â
Sally glanced at your friend group, half of them still enthralled in their novels and the other half vaguely interested in the tĂȘte-Ă -tĂȘte between the two of you.
âWell, if you're so convinced vampires aren't real. I dare you to go into the woods after school. If itâs a bear you can easily lead it to a bear trap and if itâs a vampire⊠you can make some weapons to fight it off.â
You knew she wouldn't drop it. Last summer, she had dared you to ask Eddie Munson out after youâd spent all month complaining about how pretty he was. She nagged you every day until you finally caved and went to find the long-haired boy. Unfortunately, that was the same day all hell had broken loose.
Eddie had been accused of murdering poor Chrissy Cunningham and was never seen again, supposedly lost to the earthquake. Youâd never believed he could do something so evil, no matter how much Jason Carver spouted that âdevil worshipperâ bullshit. Eddie was warm, and kind. All he wanted to do was play guitar and Dungeons and Dragons. That was not a boy capable of murder.
âMy parents would kill me if they found out I even stepped foot into the backyard. They found me sitting on the back porch the other day and with the way they reacted you would have thought Iâd been snorting cocaine in front of them or something.â
Sally flicked through her purse, pulling a crisp $50 bill from within. âYou do it, this is all yours. Youâve been wanting that new book for weeks, right? Misery?â
She was right. You had been eyeing the new Stephen King for the last few weeks, knowing your parents would never agree to buy it for you. They hated your love for horror books, but something about the insight into things that people often deemed as âmonstersâ always piqued your interest. Itâs the reason your copy of Dracula is so beat up. Pencil marks cover every available inch, your thoughts and observations sprawled out in graphite across the pages.
âFine. Youâre lucky my parents aren't home tonight. Iâll go out but if you don't hear from me by 9am tomorrow, I hope you feel guilty knowing I probably became bear food.â
Knuckles rapping against the table, Sally grins. âForever the dramatic. But ok, I will personally come round at 9am to check you're still alive and kicking, And then this,â she waves the $50 bill in front of your face, âis yours.â
â--------------
Armed with a knife from the kitchen drawer, some pepper spray youâd been given during the murders last year, and a wooden stake you had fashioned from a broken chair leg in the garage, to appease Sally who had insisted on you carrying a weapon that was vampire related, all jumbled up into a backpack; you wait for the sun to set before you set out into the backyard.
Taking note of where the bear traps your dad had laid out were, you stepped across the boundary between your backyard and the deep woods.
You can't back out now. All you have to do is confirm it was a bear that got Jenny Waller and then you can go back to the comfort of your home.
The further into the woods you went, the higher the hairs on the back of your neck stood. The dim stream of light your torch provided did nothing to offset the sprawling blackness surrounding you.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. This is so fucking dumb, Stephen King is not worth becoming bear kibble for.
The sound of a branch breaking echoes through the dark woods. The goosebumps on the back of your neck extend down to your arms, and you can almost feel your heart beating out of your chest.
Another twig snaps and you pray to whatever entity is above that if it is a bear, that itâs suddenly full and ready to hibernate despite the fact that itâs still the middle of June.
Swinging your torch back and forth into the looming darkness, the hairs on the back of your neck almost begin to vibrate, becoming increasingly aware that something, or someone, is watching you.
âHello? Is someone there? If youâre a hunter, Iâm human! I got lost in the woodsâŠâ
No response. At least no more twigs had snapped. That must be a good sign.
Just as that thought passes through your mind, a rustling from above grabs your attention. Shining your torch upwards, a silhouette appears between the branches of the tree above you. A human silhouette.
âHello?â
âWhy are you here?â
The manâs voice is gruff and tinged with annoyance. The goosebumps covering your arms tingle intensely, if this man is a vampire heâs definitely going to kill you.
âHi. I said. I got lost in the woods.â
The silhouette shifts in his spot, bending down to get a closer look at you. You wish you could do the same, the weak light from your touch barely able to keep even the silhouette present at this point.
âYou didn't get lost. You live less than a mile from here. You know these woods. You came here for a reason, so Iâll ask again. Why are you here?â
How did this man know where you live? Why is he in a fucking tree?
Only you could come into the woods and run into neither a bear or a vampire but a fucking stalker. Sally owes you so much more than $50 if you survive this.
âHow do you know where I live?â
The man above provides no answer, obviously waiting for you to answer his question first.
âFine. My friend dared me to come into the woods and see if it really was a bear that mauled Jenny Waller. Sheâs convinced it was a vampire, for some stupid reason. Even made me bring a stupid stake just in case. But just my luck, I managed to run into a stalker instead.â
An amused huff came from the man above.
âYou think Iâm a stalker?â
âYou know where I live. Youâre standing in a tree. You havenât tried to introduce yourself or make this situation less creepy. So, yeah. Stalker.â
âIâm sorry, sweetheart. Let me introduce myself.â
With that, the man jumps down from the tree. It must have been at least 15 feet and yet he landed perfectly, no sign of discomfort as he landed in a crouch.
âEddie Munson, at your service.â
Thereâs no way. Eddie Munson died in the earthquake more than a year ago. Yet, here in front of you, in all his battered battle vest and fluffy haired glory, was Eddie Munson.
âYou died.â
âI did. Just not in the way everyone thinks.â
Dumbfounded, your eyes track up and down the man in front of you. Black, ripped jeans? Check. Hellfire shirt? At this point it was completely torn to shreds, but check. Obnoxiously oversized boar ring still wrapped around his middle finger? Check. Brown, doe eyes? Check?
Those signature puppy dog eyes stare back at you, yet now they're ringed with bright red, pupils narrowed and focused on the pulse point beating rapidly in your neck.
âYou're afraid.â
Scoffing, you steady yourself against the tree trunk you hadn't realised youâd backed yourself into.
âWell, itâs not everyday someone comes back from the dead, and is a vampire.â
âObservant. What gave me away?â
âYouâre fixated on my pulse, your eyes have red in them, you just jumped 15 feet and didn't eat shit, and you came back from the dead. Shall I continue?â
At the mention of your pulse, his pupils flick back to yours, a hint of apology buried deep in brown.
âSorry. Haven't had anything to eat since that bear, and you do smell absolutely divine.â
Ignoring the flush on your cheeks at his strange compliment, you tilt your head, questioningly. âThe bear was real?â
âOh yeah. Got a good few chunks out of Jenny before I managed to drag it off of her. How do you think she made it to the roadside? I carried her and waited until a car came, then went back for the bear.â
Knees giving out slightly, you sink down the tree trunk. You were right, it was a bear. But Sally was right too. There were vampires.
âYouâre not gonna hurt me, are you?â No matter how much you tried, your voice still shook as you questioned him.
âOf course not, sweetheart.â He looks almost offended at the insinuation that he would hurt you. âI don't drink human blood. I don't really drink blood, I mostly get it from animal meat. Kinda gross eating raw meat, but it keeps me going, yâknow?â
You use the silence after he finishes speaking to take a closer look at him. He still looked just like Eddie, soft smile and awkward stance, yet there was something powerful about him. Like he could walk into the centre of a room and command attention without meaning to. Well, he could do that before but this time, it wouldn't be at the expense of having insults hurled at him.
It was a quiet confidence. Strong and radiating from every pore of his body. It suited him.
âEddie?â
Crouching down to match your eyesight, he nods, eyes staring softly as he waits for you to continue.
âJenny was attacked almost 2 weeks ago. Have you not⊠eaten since then?â
Shaking his head, ruffling the slightly matted curls on his forehead, he begins to pick at a weed on the floor.
âNope. Thatâs why I was a little weird when we first met. You just smelt so good and I didn't want to hurt you. I was hoping if I snapped some twigs, youâd take off but instead you carried on. Climbing the tree was my last hope, but you still found me.â
His eyes bore into yours, almost like heâs trying to analyse you.
âWhy didn't you run?â
âI don't know.â Eyes flitting from the surrounding forest to the man in front of you. âI think I needed to make sure it was a bear that hurt Jenny, Mostly so I could happily take Sallyâs $50, but also for my own peace of mind.â
âAnd yet, you found me. Good ol, vamp Munson. So what now? You run and tell Sally that vampires exist, and I wait for the torches and pitchforks in the morning?â
Itâs your turn to be offended. âGod, no, Eddie. I would never do that to you.â
The words are raw, and laced with a little too much truth for your liking. He senses it, leaning even closer towards you.
âWhy not? I wouldn't blame you. Round 2 of âhunt the freakâ, right?â
Quick to rebut, being used to defending him to your friends whenever they called him that. âYouâre not a freak.â
âBabe, Iâm quite literally a vampire.â
âWell, you are now, but even then. You're still Eddie. The same Eddie who helped me when Jason Carver threatened to break my glasses. The same Eddie who would spend hours in the cassette shop, trying to find that one specific cassette. The same Eddie who I can tell is trying his hardest to not hurt me despite the fact that every fibre of his being is telling him to go for it. Youâre not a freak, not even close.â
Youâre not stupid. You can see the way his nostrils flare every time a breeze passes you, the way the red ring around his eyes ebbs and flows with every breath he takes. He wants to feed, but heâs still the same Eddie Munson who nearly cried when he had to dissect a frog in Grade 9 Biology.
âCome with me. I have some steaks in the fridge. Itâs not much, but hopefully it should make this,â gesturing between the two of you, âeasier for you.â
Shakily, you stand up, using the trunk to support you. He remains crouched, eyeing you intensely.
âEddie, please. I just want to help you.â
Nodding in assent, he rises and the two of you begin the journey back to your house. Itâs quiet, only the sounds of the rustling leaves under your feet and the wind whistling gently through the trees. Eddieâs the first to break the silence.
âYou should probably rethink being friends with Sally.â
Startled by his sudden statement, you trip over a tree root. Before you can hit the ground, hands wrench you back to your feet, sturdy on your shoulders.
âThanks.â He nods, slowly moving his hands back to his sides as the two of you continue walking. âWhy do you think that?â
It takes a second for him to remember what he had mentioned earlier, teeth nibbling on the edge of his nail bed.
âShe willingly dared you to walk into the woods, believing that there was a vampire out there. Friends donât do that.â
You take a second to mull his words over. Itâs true she dared you to come here, but you couldnât lie and say it was all her idea. You were slightly intrigued by the possibility of vampires. The overflowing pile of vampire fiction tucked under your bed was a testament to that.
âIâm sure she was just joking about that.â
His eyes are still on you, deep and questioning.
âStill. She dared you to come into the woods where someone had just been mauled by a bear.â
You couldn't argue with him there. Both of you continue on in comfortable silence until you reach the threshold of your back door.
âDo I have to invite you in?â
The second you say it, you wish you could cram the words back into your mouth. He stands there, a little stupefied by the question.
âI⊠don't know? Not really been invited into many homes since the whole vampire thing.â
Your heart aches for him. Considering he lives off animal meat and is well acquainted with the woods, you assume he hasn't returned home since the earthquake.
âHave you not been to see your uncle? Or your Hellfire friends? Iâm sure they would be happy to see you, Eds.â
He huffs, gingerly stepping over the door threshold. You note that he doesn't need an invitation.
âThe infamous freak Eddie Munson, leader of the devious cult Hellfire, creator of the Munson Murders. Iâm sure their parents would be ecstatic to have a wanted murderer on their lawn.â
Dropping your backpack next to the door and moving to grab the steaks from the fridge, you level him with a glare. âNot everyone believes that. I don't. Iâm 100% sure your friends and your uncle don't. You're a good person. Sure, some people may not know that, but the ones that matter do. They know you.â
âAnd why do you believe that?â He grabs the steaks from your hands, ripping at the packaging. As he begins to tear into the first steak, you glance away.
âLike I said in the woods, you're kind. Even if you don't know me, I know you. We were once in the same class at school. You interested me. You liked to play into this devilish persona but you couldn't hide your true self. The boy who welcomed outsiders into his group, the boy who protected anyone that people deemed as âlesser thanâ, the boy who welcomed the glares and harsh words even though he once rescued a kitten from a tree and cried when it licked his cheek as a thank you.â
Sighing at the end of your speech, your eyes flicker back to him. Heâd long since dropped the half eaten steak, doe eyes placed firmly on you.
âI do know you. You sat behind me in Biology. You left me notes in my locker every time I missed class, I know it was you because of the handwriting. You were one of the only people outside of my friendship group to smile at me in the corridors. You interested me too. In fact, I even had a little crush on you.â
Your eyes widen at his admission, cheeks flushing with happiness. âI had a crush on you too. The day when, yâknow, everything started, I was waiting at your locker. I was going to ask if you wanted to go see a movie or get dinner or something. But you never showed, and then the rumours started. I never believed them, not once. I couldn't.â
âYou were going to ask me out?â His eyes widen to match yours, cheeks radiating a similar heat.
âWell, yeah. I wasn't exactly subtle with my crush.â You nervously scratch at the marble countertop, only stopping when a rough hand rests on top of yours.
âThank you. For believing in me. And for feeding me. And for all the nice things youâve said. It means a lot, truly.â Even though you had bared your heart to him, he still looked at you like he was trying to see right into your soul.
âYouâre a good person, Eddie Munson. Iâll say it until the day I die. You deserved to be happy, to be respected and loved.â
You can feel the way his hand shakes over yours, can see the tears gathering in the corners of those puppy dog eyes. Using your free hand to swipe gently at a tear that escapes, you smile softly at him.
âEat up. You need it.â
Busying yourself with dishes that had been sitting in the sink since last night, you startle as a body pressed up behind yours, dropping the plate that the steaks had been on into the soapy water.
âSorry. Silent steps, vamp perk.â
His breath tickles your neck and the goosebumps rise again, for a good reason this time.
âWhat other cool vampire perks do you have now?â
He brushes past you to pick up a kitchen towel and begins to wipe down the clean dishes. âSuper speed, super strength, these sweet lil things,â you glance across as he taps a finger to the small fangs poking out from beneath his upper lip, âand I don't really feel pain anymore.â
âAny downsides?â
âApart from the whole having to live off blood thing, none that Iâm aware of at the moment.â
Nodding, you continue to wash and he continues to dry, a comfortable silence blanketing the two of you.
â-----
By the time the dishes are done, the adrenaline from your adventure has slowly seeped out from you, eyes struggling to stay open. Eddie slowly sets the towel on the counter, shuffling from foot to foot.
âI suppose I should go⊠you look pretty tired and Iâd hate to overstay my welcome.â
You take in his appearance. His hair is greasy, obviously washed in the streams running through the forest, his clothes are caked in mud and what looks like dried black goo and his jeans have definitely seen better days.
âStay.â
He looks at you in surprise. You smile at him, heart aching at the idea of him going back into the woods.
âStay. You can wash up, have a good night's sleep. I don't think any of my clothes will work but Iâm sure my dad has some clothes from his younger years that he won't miss.â
Before he can try to decline, you grab his hand gently and lead him up the stairs.
âThe bathrooms on the right. There's fresh towels and plenty of soap and shampoo. Iâll leave my dadâs clothes by the door. We don't have a spare room, but the sofa is super comfortable to sleep on. Or you can sleep in my room, I don't mind,â you can sense hesitation on the tip of his tongue, âtruly I don't mind, Eddie. Go shower. Iâll see you either in a bit or tomorrow morning.â
You leave him by the bathroom door as you rifle through your dadâs dresser, reaching for a slim fit black t-shirt and some jeans. Picking up some boxers and socks that you know are new, you place them outside the bathroom door, hearing the quiet hum of running water from inside.
By the time youâve changed into a clean pair of pyjamas, just in case, and brushed your teeth in your ensuite, you can barely stay upright. Falling beneath the soft duvet, you keep your eyes open at a squint, some part of you hoping heâll take you up on the offer of staying in your room.
At some point you must have drifted off, eyes opening to a wild mess of curls, smelling distinctly like your apple shampoo, invading your vision. You glance down and take in the position you're currently in. Back pressed to the mattress, the hefty weight of a young vampire surrounding you. Eddie has his head tucked under your chin, one hand tucked between your bodies and the other resting lazily across your stomach. Soft breaths puff across your chest, and you smile as you close your eyes again, hand reaching to rest on top of the one on your stomach.
In the morning you may wake to a cold, empty bed but for the moment, youâll enjoy the feeling of Eddieâs body on yours, sleep soaked and slightly cold, and youâll sleep happily.
