That's good to hear, since I'm quite convinced after this play run I have coming up, I'll need a few sap days to recover from it! Hearing criticism is one of those things that always feels like a work in progress, but it is at least a little easier the older you get, in my experience. Plus it sounds like you're getting better with it, from what you've said! That's a good attitude to have as well, that as long as you approve of what you're doing, everything else is secondary. You'd be making eyes at me if we worked together? Because that sounds like a good reason to work together on a project if you ask me. Have I made you appreciate having tea on the balcony a lot more? Because we can do that at my place, even if it's a patio instead of a balcony. I love that even the Brits you know are complimenting your accent, which of course makes me feel good as your teacher. Or as your hot teacher, I should say! It's nice to know you'd be willing to go surfing in cold water again too, and it's not as cold as you though it'd be, yeah? I'm so happy you liked the villa I reserved for us in Melbourne, and being there with you was extremely relaxing. And I more than understand the obsession with flowers given I love going to shows for them. Which, I promise we'll definitely do sometime! I think we were good troopers about seeing that flower, despite the smell! At least we can tell people we saw it and didn't gag, which I think counts for a lot. I think you might have some bias on my face, though I'm hoping people will like the show since it's coming up so soon! It's at least a compelling story. How could I turn down a demonstration of you misbehaving? That would be silly of me. I hope I've been giving you a different view of London since it was nice having you there while you were filming! I'm selfishly hoping you'll be able to stick around longer since I'll have the play run and have to stay there for a while. You'll get to see me a lot more and we can go to more pubs, if that counts as extra incentive. Well, you know on my list of places is a lot of gardens, knowing how much you like looking at flowers. Well, I can't help wanting to make sure that's what you really want, being official, since well, there's always going to be that age gap between us. But if you're sure about what you want, I'd love to be with you since I don't want to be with anyone else, either, and since me being an old man doesn't scare you away! Are you sure your parents think I'm okay and not some weirdo their daughter is dating? I've already learned my lesson about trying to Facetime when it's windy, though I haven't done that at a pub recently! Maybe some corners of it would be more quiet?

You say my Nigerian accent is good, but would it impress your dad? That's the important question! I don't know if I buy that I'm more handsome than Jeremy Allen White, but I'll happy take that coming from you. The Bear crew is a wonderful one though, and I can see why you enjoy working wit them so much. I love that they were trying to set you up with someone before I came along too, though I'd say this worked out better, especially for me. Next set, I promise I'll stumble onto it like a lost old man just to make you laugh. Just the truth, though I feel like anyone would be lucky getting a chance with you. That image makes me laugh, us sprawled out on the ice together, just laughing. You know I'd always take care of you if you needed that, yeah? So that's mutual. I'd love to go to more hockey games! I've been to a baseball game a while ago, although I'm always a bit lost on that sport, I feel like. I'm more into basketball, if I'm honest. I know Gromit will love him, even if they both end up divas. Plus you carrying them around in the same purse would just seal the deal on them being divas. Along with matching outfits and photoshoots! If anyone is annoyed by it, I'll be there to say it's cute and they're wrong. I can't blame Gromit since he knows I have a weakness for dogs and wants to capitalise on that. Basil and Sage definitely make a game of hiding from me, so it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't hide from you since they like you. Maybe you should have a side hustle of dog weddings since it's a unique one! Are you kidding, you can compete with anyone, even someone you consider a bombshell, considering you're one yourself. Well, I know well have to hold the holiday off a little longer, but at least we had one to Ecuador, which was nice! Plus your surfing skills are getting better and better. I'm so glad you liked the countryside trip too, and we can definitely do that some weekends even with the play. Castles? We can certainly do that, and Hampton Court is a gorgeous palace if you haven't been already. Either way, we can go, and to other castles too! Press for Superman has been going on a little while now, and I feel like the constant theme for myself is being completely out of touch with most everything in recent pop culture. Like I can't tell you if I'm having a brat summer, because I have no idea what that means. Don't ask me what my favorite song release from the last year is, because chances are good I haven't heard any songs from that timeframe. I feel like reporters are often either frustrated by me or mystified by me for having no idea about these things. Though lucky for them, my costars are there to carry me through by explaining things and make up for me being completely clueless with all their knowledge. So, when someone compared me to Miranda Priestley and her assistants for how much they have to feed me information, I got excited because hey, I actually recognized that reference. I'll be happy when press is over and I can retreat back into my world of old time jazz, Star Wars, and my daughter. can i just say first and foremost that i watched your press so much because i just loved you and the rest of the cast? i wasn't even really into superman all that much, but i saw some clips on tiktok and then did a deep dive into your interviews and loved them all so much, i was just utterly charmed by all of you. i think the fact that you didn't really get pop culture made you adorable, and it just made me want to listen to your interviews even more! and i say this as someone that has to know pop culture, since i voiced a character in a show that was based on teens, so i had to know all the things. but you did an amazing job with your interviews -- and i think your costars did an amazing job helping you too. anytime they would help you with an answer, it made me laugh, because they just looked at you so fondly. okay, i'll stop gushing about you and your costars now, but i just thought you should know that! i hope that you've gotten to really relax since press has been over for a while for you and that you've gotten your jazz, star wars and daughter time! and like i said, i wasn't really into superman before watching your interviews -- but decided to go see it because i as charmed by you guys, and i'm glad i did. made me a huge fan of superman! i also loved edi gathegi in the film, mister terrific was my second favorite character after superman! but you did a great job, and also my dad told me he's watched the film about 20 times since it came out on hbox max, so you've got a fan in my dad as well. || @corenswethq

I'd say it's just another day today, but that wouldn't be the least bit true, given it's your birthday and that's a special day indeed! I'd also say it's just another trip around the sun, but I have a feeling you know what I'd counter to that also, that it's another year of your extra-special life. Your make on the world so far has been so extraordinary, I know there are plenty of others who are thankful that you exist, and you can certainly count me among them, given how you've changed my life in such a short time. I don't think I've ever shared that I'd sort of given up on love and having a partner after my divorce, and I don't mean that in a hopeless way, necessarily, just that I figured I'd already had a great love of my life, and how many could I have of those in a lifetime? I think I'd already accepted that it'd just be one even if things didn't work out. I should have known better for all the ways life can surprise us, and you were certainly a welcome one that came completely out of the blue. Granted, we joke all the time about how daft I am to not have realised you'd invited me on a date to a certain awards show, but it's funny that even before that, you lingered on my mind far more than I wanted to admit. I thought about our jokes and conversations regularly, and it almost always ended up that you were one of the last people who came to mind just before I went to bed, that moment the world's quiet and my head spun with the thoughts I perhaps didn't have as much time as I'd like to visit. Aside from my children, of course, you came to mind and never failed to make me smile. Your kindness and humour infused its way into my life, not to mention your adventurous spirit, and your penchant for always making me laugh no matter the occasion.

Naturally, I can't think of anything to do with anything Irish without thinking of you and smiling, and I love that you're so open to learning British customs as well, right down to the accent. You certainly make pubs more exciting, even for an old man who thinks it's a great idea to Facetime there. My joking aside, you've just brought so much to my life I never expected and never knew I needed until you showed up. And now, I mostly feel lucky that you wanted to take a chance on this old man, that you didn't completely abandon me after the first date for being so silly, and that you've stuck with me and made life all the more magical. I know all of this sort of seems a bit heavy given we've only just started being something official, but I suppose the thing is, I also know it's special to meet someone who instills hope for anything, whether it's the world, or that people can be so kind and extraordinary, or live, whatever it is. But just know you instill hope for everything in this heart of mine, that you give it so much joy and light, far more than I ever expected. That's a gift in itself, hope, and while I can't predict the future and know the surprises along the way are sweeter for not knowing about them in advance, to go with the theme, I really hope you're in my life for a very long time, and that you'll let me be part of yours. As it stands, I'm already extremely lucky for the time we've gotten together already, and well can't blame an old man for being a little greedy for more of it and more birthdays to celebrate with you. Which speaking of, Happy Birthday! I know you're off being brilliant and doing promotion while I'm a bit attached to London with the play, but I promise the moment you come back to the city, I'll make you a special birthday dinner. In the meantime, I'll do the old man thing of recording myself playing a special birthday tune on the piano, just for you. it's safe to say that i'm pretty happy that you were born today and so very happy that you came into my life and pretty much changed my world a little bit, but in the best way. getting to know you has been one of the most fulfilling experiences i've ever had in my life, and i have had a lot of fulfilling experiences in my life. you're such an amazing man, and i count myself very lucky for having you in my life and count myself very lucky that you wanted to make things official and become my boyfriend, because i know deep down there is no one else better out there for me than you, because you just get me, and honestly, we just make sense. i told you before that relationships were never really my thing, but you made me see things differently, and you made me want to be with someone in the way that i am with you and it's just because there's something magical about you, there's something that i'm completely drawn to, and i just know that it's something i'm always going to be drawn to. so, that's my way of saying that you're always going to be stuck with me, mister, and i hope you're prepared for that. i'm glad that i've found someone who gets my humor, who makes me feel good about myself, and who is always there to support me, so again, i just can't stress enough how happy i am that you were born, because withoutthat fact, i wouldn't have such an amazing man in my life, and i would truly hate that. because, let's be real, both of our lives would be a little empty without each other, right?

and last but not least, i know we're both busy right now with work and stuff, but when we're not busy, i booked us this gorgeous villa in the seychelles for two weeks so we can just go off grid and relax. it's got it's own gorgeous private pool, and its own private beach access as well, so it'll be perfect for us if we want to surf as well. i just figured that it would be the perfect vacation for the two of us after you finish your play and i finish filming.
