Architecture, or not.

Part 1

From the moment one starts wondering, and considering different opinions about the architectural styles; is easy to distract from the general idea of architecture design. 

I will begin writing a sequence of texts about my perspective that generally suggests an interpretation of the judgement received from different designers. 

When one enters the architecture school, one is exposed to different perspectives and ideologies from the professors. These, are the ones that start our ‘engine’ by inspiration or alteration. As we progress month by month, semester by semester, we start to understand better our own work. Yes, we first explore with every concept and belief, until we find one which is useful independently. From this moment the student has predefined his own style. 

Technique in architecture is universal, style is personal. Technique is something that can be taught, style is discovered. 

 After saying this, is easier to tackle those discussions that come along with a judgmental review. It is crucial to learn the language architects to speak, in order to transmit the idea behind our planing together with the way of thinking which probably defines your style. But, never submit if the comment is not helpful to your approach. One advice is: Never try to impose your opinion without respecting others’.
