the eldest child of two and raised by a mother left bitter by her husbands ties to crime. it had been promised on the night of their wedding that his life of crime would be relented, but the vow would be as short lived as the ones spoken at the alter. a man of little patience, into effie's teenage years and pre-teens of her younger brother, he began to be less frequent. working late, working later, the common excuse. soon, her mother discovered his falsehoods ... or rather he finally came clean and imploded the entirety of the family. effie, young and too curious, listened to the entire thing. the drugs, the dealings, the falling behind on his duties ... and the threat to the floyd's themselves.
her father had been a long-time supplier, running his own operation of trade until the d'amico's offered him a simple deal: comply and surrender his distributions to the family or face the consequences of distributing on their territory. quickly, he succumbed as a man of little spine. in truth, he never quite asked about the terms and conditions ... in fact, he'd assumed this would help keep his to-be wife and future child safer. his lie had been one in good faith, but faith can only carry a man so far in a city tainted by crime. in the later years, shipments became dry, his partners slipping from his fingers ... he couldn't supply the d'amico's anymore. it was then he realized the cost of his name and loyalty; how his failure to supply could lead to the harm of his family. the fight between him and his wife skyrocketed and led to a sudden relocation of her mother and children.
tldr; effie was taken in as debt for her father's soon negative standings with the d'amico's, meant to shame and humiliate him for his shortcomings prior to his execution. effie is aware of her father's death and the terms of her involvement with the d'amicos. she keeps a good face and has proven herself, but a resentment brews for everybody in her life blood or d'amico crested.
