“I see… Hmm, well, it is a long story, but if you wish to know, you should talk directly to the source, not what some inaccurate casefiles might purport to be the truth. I will tell you the story of Mask DeMasque.”
“It was some months ago, in this very city, that a plague struck. This plague’s name was Mask DeMasque. A shadow of the night hid behind a mask, this thief would go to any museum or exhibit looking solely for treasures to pilfer or trinkets to pillage. His audacious antics brought nothing but fear, panic, and terror among the people of Los Angeles. To this day, I recall to memory the tears of the children as they cried, “Who has let this evil upon us all”. It was truly and terribly tragic. Mask DeMasque and his forces of nefarious darkness would not be stopped, or so it would seem. While the city shrieked for a hero of Justice to save them, only one man arose to take the call of righteous duty. And, Sir Edgeworth, would you happen to know just who that man who so gallantly vowed to save the city? Oh, and you really should be taking notes, you know. It would serve you well, if you ever wished to recall the story.”
He listened to Luke Atmey's theatrical interpretation with some amusement. The man lacked modesty, this was true. Of course, this case had been presumably closed by now. No sense looking further into it.
"That's..fascinating. Logic would dictate that you would be the one to take up this oath. Very well, did you ever succeed in catching him?"
