If you've ever wondered why I've been largely inactive for many years, other than just growing up and having more important things to focus on, it cannot be understated that getting your politics from Tumblr (or any social media for that matter) is typically not a good and succinct way to do it.
More specifically, a lot of the time the political climate on here is much more about "gotchas" than any sort of actual constructiveness, and ends up just as tribalized as the parties they try to critique (and usually it's just one of the parties they have more of a bias against). It's pretty rare you actually get more than one source, if any, for the bulk of a post, and to be frank a lot of the discussion becomes heavy echo chambers for either complete chuds or horribly out of touch neo-libs that were clowned on years prior.
All of this to say: Do your research. If something seems suspicious, find multiple sources. Try to remain consistent. And most of all, don't have positions that solely exist to spite—life isn't retail.
