AFF Architekten - Hutznhaisl, Tellerhäuser 2009. Located on Fichtelberg mountain on the site of a former ski/storage hut, the structure stands to question the material and technological comforts/luxuries we have become accustomed to. Constructed with raw concrete, exposed conduit, untreated wood floors, steel windows, and a single fireplace for heat, visitor’s focus is trained on the surrounding forest, void of any of the contemporary distractions of urban life. The remnants of the previous structure are cast into the new walls, becoming part of the texture, history, and patina of the hut. Photos © Hans Christian Schink.
