Saturday May 21st 🥳@moises.salazar.tlatenchi solo exhibition “Nuestro Juramento” opens from 6-9pm 🥳 As Ed. Varie is always looking for ways to nurture our artists and build our community, we created a unique residency for Moises to experience art making in their homeland of Mexico. The works in the exhibition Nuestro Juramento, translated to Our Oath, are from their time in Mexico City, with two additional works created stateside in reflection of their residency. Growing up Mexican American in Chicago to immigrant parents, Salazar Tlatenchi experienced firsthand the instability of living in the United States and the violence one can face. They immediately understood the importance of community, linage, and family for the sake of survival and endurance. Through Salazar Tlatenchi's work they create alternative spaces for queer and undocumented bodies, which provide safety from violence. They address the reality of the barriers that immigrants and queer individuals face with the intention to dismantle the myths and stereotypes used to criminalize and dehumanize them. Nuestro Juramento will open on May 21st and will be on view through June 12th. Gallery hours are Saturday and Sunday 12–6pm, and also by appointment. 1-Moises Salazar Tlatenchi, Amor Mio, 2022, Acrylic, Glitter, Crochet, on Mexican fabric, 60 x 80cm. 2-Moises Salazar Tlatenchi, Freak, 2022, Acrylic, Glitter, Crochet, on Mexican fabric, 80 x 90cm. 3-Moises Salazar Tlatenchi, Fantasy, 2022, Acrylic, Glitter, Crochet, on Mexican fabric, 100 x 120cm. #edvarie #moisessalazartlatenchi (at Ed.
