What are your favorite non Canon ships? Also what do you think about blackwater?

I like bella/alice and jacob/bree :)) I also really enjoy poly bella/edward/jacob or even the occasional edward/jacob when it aligns with my Very Specific views of how those relationships should be handled haha

Is blackwater jake/leah?? yeah I don't feel particularly strongly about it myself, but they definitely make a TON of sense together. I honestly think it's a bit of a cop out that they didn't go through with their plan of running away together in BD. it's super unfortunate that as soon as leah starts to feel close to someone again, it's ripped away from her AGAIN– jake was gonna be her way out and then he goes and imprints on a newborn like she really is done the most dirty 😭 justice for leah fr

Now what would be an interesting turn of events would be if Esme attacked Bella in New Moon. Sweet, motherly, lovable Esme who never really leaves the house to be around humans - she doesn’t even have her own car.

How immune is she to the scent of blood? Jasper is in school every day where I know people are bleeding. But esme?

Picture the party ending in New Moon with Emmett and Jasper holding back their heart-faced mum, and suddenly the lovely Esme is very much a vampire and Bella is looking her future in the face

that one linkin park scene is midnight sun makes me want to scream because it’s literally such a corny dream teenage girl scenario. you listened to an album on repeat and your crush happens to love that album too and asks you what is your favourite song from it so you get the chance to say the song with the most intense lyrics as a way to express your intense feelings towards them without having to tell them anything intense and they have to wonder did you say this song on purpose? do you really think to yourself that “even if you’re not with me, i’m with you”? AAAAA

even if Bella WAS a perfect vampire, & even if this WAS who she was always meant to be, it wouldn't erase her insecurity of fitting in. she would completely overpower the Cullens in sports & competitions for at least a year. they have decades of inside jokes, memories, and cultural experiences she will never share. that's nothing to say of the real-world experience she lacks. & while no one would admit it, her perfect control must get irritating for someone like Jasper, who struggles with the diet, or Rose, who until now could brag about having the cleanest record besides Carlisle. obviously, as a vampire in a human's world, she's never going to find a true sense of belonging. but even among the Cullens, i don't see her overcoming that feeling anytime soon, despite what she might want to believe.

by making her a Perfectly Perfect Vampire, smeyer limits Bella's opportunities to bond with her new family. she's not opening up about how hard it is to resist the call for blood. or how frustrated she is that she can't do simple tasks like holding a pencil. or how sad she is that she had to leave Charlie behind. by being Too Perfect to kill the hiker, she misses out on the comfort she would have gotten from Emmett or Esme. she won't have adult conversations with Edward about the guilt he feels from his rebellious phase, & how to cope. we don't see Carlisle or Jasper pulling strings to erase her from the scene of the crime, or the family pitching in to reestablish their lives

like. idk if Bella (/smeyer) realizes that the Cullens are likely close because they've made awful, irreparable mistakes together and have leaned on each other in hard times. i think Bella believes her value lies in being useful and not a burden. she gets everything she wants, but there's still an unspoken cost. i think, by making her Perfect, smeyer has made her untouchable - even to the Cullens.

I really love Twilight but I feel guilty reading the books (even though I love Edward and Bella and their relationship) because of Stephanie Meyer and her deeply rooted mormonist/racist/sexist/classist views while writing Eclipse and Breaking Dawn... :(

I relate, it's a complex issue. but I wouldn't feel guilty about enjoying it, because clearly you're aware of the problematic elements. I think it's perfectly okay to engage with media that perpetuates some harmful ideology as long as you're engaging critically! the twilight saga perpetuates a lot of racist and misogynistic views, and it's important to talk about that, but it also has a compelling and unique take on vampires that was hugely influential on the paranormal romance genre & pop culture as a whole– of course there's something interesting to be examined there. there's no shame in finding joy in that, it was popular for a reason!

My goal for 2025 is to grow as a writer. I've been practicing for a while, but it's been a fairly lonely experience so far. The end goal is a long AU fic set in the Twilightverse that I've had in my head for years. I'll post things about it here as I meander forward with it. (Hopefully it'll start to write itself soon.) HOWEVER, writing is hard, big projects are hard, so... sidequests!
