Not everyone can say theyâve been to the Big Apple, but ELIJAH 'ELI' JOHNSON, a 39 year-old CIS MALE has lived in THE BRONX for THIRTY-NINE YEARS. This is the city of dreams and HE knows it, because they came to NYC to be a DOG WALKER. Well, that and as a ROOMMATE to LEON MACKEN. Living in the city means they meet all kinds of people, but everyone always seems to think they look like ANTHONY MACKIE. They even got away with free cab fare once because of it!
tw: mention of depression, mention of adhd
ok hello i am fully taking the L right now and going with bullet points because brain.... says no to full bio for now SORRY
so eli is bronx born and raised!! his family has lived in nyc for as long as he can remember (which isnât weird, seeing as he was literally born here) and he wouldnât have it any other way. he absolutely loves it here.
grew up in a big family, three younger sisters and one younger brother, plus his parents and his grandmother... it was always a full house, at least!Â
because of this, eli absolutely loves being around people and if he has to spend a lot of time alone, heâll become a bit of a Debbie Downer
he had to move back in with his mom for a little bit after that, became a little bit Depressed for a while.. saw a therapist, got back on the horse and is now.. doing literally any job under the sun he can find to make some cash, because no actual business wants to hire him after the mistakes he made at his old job.
so, dog walking, babysitting, food delivery... you name it, this man has done it. currently the dog walking thing is working out so well for him that heâs thinking of expanding his business to include a dog washing service as well! he just needs to properly train himself for that first. aka watch some youtube videos on it. weâll see if it works out or if heâll move on to yet another job.
so basically; if you have an odd job laying around, give eli a call! big ass chance heâll do it.
in reality, he just doesnât really know what to do with his life now. heâs a little bit directionless; but he makes up for it with his good natured spirit and stupid jokes!!Â
because he has those odd jobs, he canât technically afford the rent to his one-bedroom by himself. was posting an ad on craigslist the best idea? no. did he make a friend for life? most definitely. do they bicker like a married couple sometimes? very likely.
personality wise, eli is usually a moderately happy guy. what you see is what you get with him though, and if you catch him on a bad day, youâll know. this doesnât usually happen, and heâll likely just be joking around with you (also has a little bit too much energy sometimes, but if thatâs because of those 5 cups of coffee or the undiagnosed adhd, weâll never know).Â
some wanted connections could be old coworkers from the stock exchange, people heâs worked with or for at these odd jobs, people heâs currently walking dogs for, friends, the barista who serves him those many coffees, neighbors... you name it, it can happen!

âokay, listen to me -- one time was fun, two times is... somehow understandable? but the seventh time?â his eyebrows are raised in either surprise, disbelief or ... whatever else you could be raising your eyebrows for in this situation, honestly. âare you trying to memorize the entire movie as fast as you can?âÂ
"Yeah, I guess, I dunno.â It seemed silly now to be worrying about the wonder not-twins when so much more had happened at the party. I mean, a guy was dead. And he might have helped kill him with the demon heâd summoned ââ No, doesnât matter what Eli said, Leon was entirely confident in his ability to summon demonic creatures. And still⊠he couldnât stop thinking about Clive and Claire. "Youâre right, fuck them. Though I may⊠well, I kinda was the one who sought them out. Wanted some confrontational closure kinda thing? It was stupid." His hand dives into the popcorn bucket again, slower to bring the food to his mouth this time. "How was your night, though? Were you just⊠here?â
âyou sought them out? damn, thatâs -- i mean, i get it, i guess?â shifting on the couch a little, eli let out a sigh. âi mightâve done the same thing, honestly. iâm not here to judge -- not really, at least. itâs not stupid, dude,â he paused, swatting leonâs hand as it came out of the popcorn bucket and throwing him a glare before continuing, âit just shows that you still care about them in some way.â eli then shrugged and nodded, eating some popcorn for himself. you know. before it was all gone. âi was just here, yeah. where else was i supposed to be? some magical place called ânot-hereâ?âÂ

âalright, if everyone can just keep their cool today -- iâm looking at you specifically, dolly -- that would be great. you know what happens if you donât.â a small pause as he looks over all of the dogs faces, one by one -- no response, of course. âthatâs right. no treats and 5 minutes less of playing with the ball of awesome. correct. letâs go.â eli had finally picked up all the dogs for his evening walk, and he was ready to rock and roll.Â
everything was fine and dandy for about five minutes. five blissful minutes -- until one of the dogs (of course it was fucking dolly, that little monster wasnât raised right) noticed another dog coming up ahead and started barking, riling up all the other dogs. âGOD. I AM SO SORRY. THEY USUALLY DONâT -- OH WHO AM I KIDDING, THEY DO THIS ALL THE TIME!â eli definitely had to scream. sorry, kind-stranger-with-only-one-dog.
Open: Saturday Morning, Washington Square Park, Manhattan.
Fluffing her hair, Lennon put her notebook down in front of her on the little table. It was practically the hunger games trying to snipe a seat in Washington Square Park. Especially one that was out of the way of the gusts of wind. It wasnât uncommon for the girl to make the venture out into Manhattan, especially in the weekends. It was the place to be! Who knew whoâd walk by? It was enough to make her imagine life one day with fans, people wandering up to her, things like that. âOh, Jet? It was a mix of things! My hair was dyed dark, dark in high school, and you know, Joan Jett⊠Icon-â Rambling began, as if someone had asked her  a question. Better to be prepared for the future! She didnât expect someone to walk by, âOh. GodâŠâ Fumbling in her purse, âMy AirPods werenât in - I was trying to, voice notes, you know? The future. Was this your table?â
he was mostly just on his way to work -- picking up his dogs, that was -- when he heard a girl talk to herself in the middle of washington square park. now, it obviously wasnât uncommon to run into people who talked to themselves - this was new york, after all - but those people usually either mumbled or screamed. they didnât look like they were giving a... speech? an interview? honestly, eli couldnât tell, but he also couldnât help but walk closer. as he did, however, the girl seemed to fumble and reach for her .. airpods? ânot my table, no, was just coming to see if youâre alright. you were trying to record voice notes without checking if your app was recording first? iâm not one to judge, but that doesnât seem smart.âÂ
âYeah, but itâs whatever. I didnât even see the body." He saw something that was weird regarding that whole thing, but didnât have the bandwidth to process it now. Leon appears mildly disgruntled at the comment, chewing on the inside of his cheek and crossing his arms over his chest. "I could have been." He murmurs under his breath. This time it had felt like it worked. "Yeah, both of them. Clive copied my costume and Claire⊠well, Claire was just playing her favored role of Cluless Bitch #1." Bitterness clings to his words, tongue sliding over his dried lips. "It was weird. Seeing them again. Like I hate them but I also kinda missed them? I donât know.â
âthatâs ... good, i think?â his eyebrows were still closer together than heâd like to be (his nana would absolutely have hit him in the back of the head right now, telling him not to frown or heâd get wrinkles -- jokes on you nana. he already had wrinkles) and he scratched his forehead a little. âhm, sure you could have. with a little more practice.â eli shrugged, and his eyebrows finally raised at the description of his siblings. âi mean, makes sense, right? you havenât seen them in .. how long, exactly? but also, fuck them for showing up. and fuck them again for seeking you out. they couldâve just left you alone.âÂ
As fucking if. First thing he does when he sits? Yep, stick his hand inside the bag of popcorn and grab a fistful. He shoves it into his mouth before Eli can slap it all away.  âFuck you." Says Leon, mouth absolutely full of popcorn. After he establishes his dominance over his bed/couch and swallows, he proceeds with his tale. "My brother and sister were both there." That was enough an explanation. Doomsday scenario. "Also, a guy got killed, and I might have caused it by summoning a demon at the beginning of the party, but thatâs just speculation.â
âfuck you!â eli countered back before slapping his hand anyway, even though the popcorn was already in his mouth. hearing what leon had to say, however, only made eli frown more. âokay, back up -- thatâs a lot. first off -- someone DIED?â he immediately grabbed his phone, scrolling through the news feed; and there it was. âdamn. thatâs crazy. though, iâve seen you summon demons... donât think that was you, bro.â he shrugged, thinking back to what else leon had said. âyour siblings? like.. both of them? were they somehow stalking you? what the fuck.â
He looks like death. Deader than the guy who died, probably. Okay, not really, his head wasnât bashed in âââ but still, it kinda felt like it was. Leon practically flops onto the couch/bed, falling by Eliâs side. He doesnât have the energy to do much else other than looking resigned. And grunting a little.  âSo, tonight sucked." As if his face hadnât betrayed that already. He looks over to Eli. "You should have come. It was, like, the third worst night of my life.â
eli was chilling on the couch, having just made himself a bag of popcorn -- and then leon came in. âiâm not sharing.â was the first thing that came out of his mouth before he saw the look on his face. âhold on, that bad? what happened, someone ate all the candy before you got there?â
