I’m a fan of most modern Star Trek, including the 2009 Kelvin timeline movies. Things felt different for a while, but Discovery brought it back (with its highs and lows), and then Strange New Worlds completely rescued me.

The writing doesn't always align with my taste, but the cast is always phenomenal and giving it their all. We fans can be hard to please (I know I am!), but honestly? I just love that Star Trek is still here. 🖖

(And of course, TOS, TNG, and Voyager will always have a special place in my heart! You just can't beat the classics. 🚀✨)

Little Things

☆Summary: Michael always feels guilty for leaving you to take care of household chores alone everyday and tries his best to contribute even when he's dead tired. Today is no different but you already know how to handle his almost obsessive need to help you out.

Michael has always been someone who would never leave his partner doing something alone, if he can—and even if he can’t but he’s in the vicinity—he will extend a helping hand whether it was with cooking, cleaning or even something as simple as putting the straw into your drink and open the food container, he’s always helping you.

It stemmed from the absence that came with his physically demanding work of being the King of Pop that whenever he comes home from a long day of work, he’s guilty of leaving you to do chores alone so he does whatever he can to lighten the burden on you.

Unfortunately, this trait of his does mean that even when he’s drained off the bones, he would still come around and ask if you need assistance.

Tonight wasn’t any different, although he came home earlier than you thought he would. He had walked out of the house rather energized and inspired so you expected that he’d come home the next morning.

You were chopping vegetables for a soup dish you were craving when a pair of arms wrapped around your middle and you caught the scent of his perfume before you felt the rest of his body press against yours, his chin resting on your shoulder.

“What are you cookin’ good lookin’?” He asked, exhaustion present in the way his words dragged on a little longer.

“I’m craving something hot so I’m making soup.”

“Need help with anything?”

You have tried denying Michael’s help one too many times before but stubbornness got him doing things anyways. Years of this meant you have a way to deflect his innate need to assist you with the household work.

Nodding, you took out the peeler and picked out the smallest, manageable vegetables to give him. You don’t really need more of those but it's the only way you can make him feel useful and therefore, settled.

“Go peel and chop them for me, baby.”

Too mentally spent to question the baby potatoes and the short carrots you gave him, he simply nodded and took space in the island counter to begin the task.

You watched as he hunched over the little spud in his hand and slowly skinned it with the peeler. Taking a quick second to take a little basket for him to put the peelings in, you slid it next to his arm, something he didn’t even acknowledge, far too focused.

Kissing his cheek and whispering your thanks to him, you returned to the stove where the chopped up chicken is being cooked with the onions on butter.

Moments pass and the chicken broth is poured into the cauldron along with the vegetables you prepared prior, yet Michael is still not finished with his vegetables but he looks more visibly at ease but also tired, eyes drooping as he chops the last baby carrot. 

“Thank you for helping me out, baby. You always treat me so well.”

A small smile tugs his lips up as you approach to take the plate of cubed vegetables—which is a huge contrast to the bigger and roughly sliced vegetables you prepared but you don’t mind—and he sits straight, stretching his back as you lean in for a kiss.

“I barely did anythin’, don’t thank me, angel.”

“You helped me chop things up. That’s a lot.”

He shakes his head. “I should do more.”

“Let me handle the rest, hm?” Pushing him back down on the stool, you cup his face with one hand and let your thumb caress the apple of his cheek. “You did so well today.”

Michael flushed red and a light giggle leaves his lips, bashfully batting your hand away as you took the vegetables to the cauldron and poured it in with the rest.

Soon enough, stomachs were filled—you guilt tripped him into eating, dramatically crying about how not even your darling would want to eat with you and he gave in—and clean dishes were put away, you’re leading him up to your shared bedroom where he had flopped face first next to you before he’s shifting to pull you into his arms and sighed contentedly.

Your fingers found the back of his head and carefully ran your hand through his hair, digging your nails just right to make him shiver and lean into your touch as his shoulders loosened.

“Thank you for takin’ care of me, baby.” He says before pressing his lips on your forehead, eyes already closed.

“Go to rest, Mikey. The world can wait tomorrow.”
