You can call me Effi.

I think it's long overdue for me to introduce myself here, so I'll do it now. To all of you who enjoy and appreciate my drawings and ideas. I think Tumblr is the right place for these stuff. So look forward to a few more doodles and sketches, and maybe some bigger projects too.

Keeping a blog alive is a good goal for me to get better at what I love to do. This blog is a great incentive for me to stay on the ball when it comes to my drawing. I'm far from a professional, but every now and then my drawings might strike a chord, hopefully.

Feel free to write me or leave here a comment with your question. Let's talk about our favourite game franchise, praise our favourite characters, and share our work! Whether you write fan fiction, create OCs, or draw fan art yourself. FYI: I don't do commissions. This is all just a hobby and I don't want it to become a source of stress for me. Why Resident Evil? Why Jill Valentine?

Flashback!

It must have been 1997 or 1998. My brother, who is five years older than me, loves gaming. I am his biggest fan. I accompany him in every game he plays over the next few decades. My personal Let's Player, so to speak. He has a new PS1 game with him. Resident Evil Director's Cut From the moment he starts the game, we are both captivated. We are scared shitless. But the story and the characters draw us in so much. We can't stop. As a young girl in the late 90s, the role that Jill Valentine played was simply a revelation for my 10-year-old self. She was strong, independent, honest and a damn badass. Maybe only topped by Sarah Connor in Terminator 2 Judgement Day followed close by Ellen Ripley in Alien. For me, the RE3 remake took the character of Jill Valentine to the next level. The character development, design, attitude, dynamic and chemistry between Jill and Carlos are just perfect and exactly match my idea of her in the Resident Evil world. As a huge film fan – I would almost call myself a cinephile or movienerd – I became even more excited about the RE2 and RE3 remakes than I was about the games from the 90s. The way Capcom designed the remakes, which look almost like cinematic films, drew me further into the franchise.(No offence. I love the original RE2 and RE3 too, but they're different and definitely a product of their time, which still holds up very well.)

So the obsession holds on for over 25 years now. Thank you my dear brother.

Now that we know the ruins of Raccoon City are still standing, this duo keeps wandering through them together in my mind. Searching for some kind of intel for some kind of mission. Reliving what they both experienced together in 1998.

The absence of Jill and Carlos (and Claire) in RE9 still feels like a missed opportunity.

It remains to be seen what the RE9 DLC will bring us. Capcom, at least mention the RC survivors in a document …

Until then, I’m bringing you Jill and Carlos in drawn form, once again in the ruins of Raccoon City.

Carlos's last drawing was just too much fun. I only did a rough sketch of this doodle last time. Now I've finished it.

Here's another attempt at the Art Nouveau style, of course, with Carlos. I like that style and the compositions you can create. The symmetry and all that satisfying stuff. 🤌

It's also an attempt at coloring pieces like that, which is a work in progress. I still need to practice to figure out how to make it work.

This stemmed from my desire to see a Leon and Jill team up in Requiem. 'Coz Jill deserves to be kicking butt with Leon (along with Claire, but I'm too in a rush to add more characters in this comic). I headcanon that Leon and Jill have a sibling dynamic with Jill lightly bullying him at times lol.
