decided i needed some space to talk about wot because there's just so much in my mind and also i think it would help with keeping everything straight. i've watched the show, read the first four books and i'm currently on book 5

rest of book 5!

first of all i need to say i felt extremely cheated because i was reading on my kindle and it said there was still like an hour left and then i clicked the next page and the book is suddenly over. turns out the rest was glossary. anyways...

fully didn't catch that everyone got for realsies killed before. like asmodean yes because he was crispy, but i thought the rest was just unconscious and rand was spiraling. but no they all were capital d dead. i assumed balefire would bring asmodean back the entire time, but 3 for 1 is great too

on that note what the fuck??? asmodean just getting killed anyway five minutes later?? no idea who killed him, maybe one of the other forsaken?

nynaeve in tel’aran’rhiod was awesome. she has had to be saved so many times now and it's great to see her save someone. like rand would have been completely fucked without her. also great work on the moghedien thing. i'm sure it'll bite her in the ass some day sonn and killing her now would have been better, but whatever maybe she'll learn something in the meantime

re: the balefire i'm super worried about what rand did to tel’aran’rhiod and whether it will have some lasting consequences and cause the whole thing to just implode on itself. also i don't love that he keeps using it in the real world. let's just be happy mat and aviendha are saved and put it away again

love bashere and that he brought his own wine to the gathering. can't wait to have an in-laws buddy comedy with him, faile and perrin next book.

Oh my fucking god there is just absolutely no way Moiraine is dead I will scream. Like I thought she was gonna die because of the ominous "hey I'm gonna die real soon" vibes she was giving off, but I don't care I'm a Moiraine lives truther now. The only thing that gives me pause is that Lan can feel the new Aes Sedai. But if Moiraine is in the weird snake place maybe that counts as a different plane of existence and she doesn't register as alive on this world anymore? But then that would have been the case when she went into it in the Stone of Tear too so idk? The logic isn't great, but I'll believe she'll pop out at the Tower of Ghenjei in like a book or two until proven otherwise.

Anyway, finally could continue reading and I'm on chapter 53 now. Thoughts so far:

Anytime Lews Therin pops in I perk up like a meercat. It's just so intriguing and I can't wait to see how this develops. Like is Lews Therin fully gonna take over Rand at some point?

I've started to unironically like Asmodean. For an infamous super evil dude he just seems like an alright guy all things considered. Hoping he has genuinely changed sides, expecting to get fucked over though.

Mat stumbling his way into becoming a legendary battle leader. Bless him. Sucks what happened with Melindra though, I liked her.

I'm showpilled, but Aviendha and Rand are actually very cute together. I don't hate it even if I always wish for more lesbianism. Also I was so convinced that boy was gonna die a virgin so good for him.

Speaking of lesbians, Elayne and her super cool super hot female warder, I see you girl.

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole circus bit. I hear it's unpopular in the fandom (?), but I thought it was hilarious.

Hate how Siuan and Leane are treated now. I'm so convinced they'll get their powers back eventually and I hope it's soon, but probably not. Also if Moiraine can't become Siuan's Amyrlin In Exile now, I wonder how that plan is gonna work out.

Oh oh oh!!! I literally just remembered the dream Egwene (?) had about Thom pulling Moiraine's blue gem out of a fire. That gotta mean he's the one that ends up getting her back!

- galad joining the whitecloaks had to happen, but ugh. also for a guy joining an organisation that's fundamentally against aes sedai, he sure knows how to talk like one

- "men were so strange they were hardly human sometimes" nyneave is so funny

- omg they're going to join the circus

- nynaeve being like "oh elayne you probably think of thom like a father, an old decrepit father who's bones have almost turned to dust because he's so ancient" bless her it's not working (also fully choosing to ignore the weird freudian thing about girls wanting to fuck their fathers or whatever they got going on in the two rivers)

- them talking about how strong morgase is :( I need her out of that palace so bad

- circus guy is so mad lmao. nynaeve really needs to internalise the saying "you always meet twice" and stop pissing off everyone she meets as soon as she meets them

- aludra! thom and her should recognise each other, that might get interesting

- new seanchan woman cerandin! she seems harmless enough, wonder what'll happen once she finds out the girls can channel

random thoughts on fires of heaven so far (i'm on chapter 15)

first and foremost there's a zero percent chance all the aiel don't think rand is fucking the gleeman

elaine's thing with thom is so weird girl wtf stop flirting with your mom's sloppy seconds

moiraine acting all strange fully makes sense because of going through the rings but why am i actually getting major "moiraine is gonna die soon" vibes? with the siuan storyline being way different than in the show i'm kinda worried they switched their storylines around

i'm thinking siuan's group, gareth bryne's group and nynaeve and elayne will all end up in the same place soon and as a group they will be able to put together that morgase is being controlled by a forsaken and get her the fuck out

throwing in the room that egwene's dream about rand sitting on some woman's throne and the woman being pissed is about the amyrlin seat and she's the woman
