Gale gently drew her closer by the chin, his touch tender as he took Idia’s hand - an invitation to come even closer, to step more intimately into his space. Their fingers intertwined; his gaze grew serious for a moment, as though a memory had surfaced. “You know, Id… When I first saw you, I felt both fear and curiosity. A drow showing kindness and pulling me out of a portal - it could only mean one thing: either I’d die, or…” He paused, smiling softly. “…or I’d find something greater than any spell.” “Or bring the wrath of my family upon yourself, Gale. The Matron never abandons her wayward daughters, the girl said quietly, a trace of worry in her voice. “Let them come. I’ve spent too many years fighting the shadow within me to let another one steal my light. I’m not just Professor Decarios, my dear. I’m the man who would burn every one of his tomes to ashes if it meant keeping you safe. A few of Lolth’s spies… I can handle them. I promise.”
