Dim Sum with Mom
Ellen: We had a good Monday of Guitar Center, lunch with my mom, a show at the SF Jazz Center, and dinner at Suppenküche, one of my favorite spots in the city. But the best part was probably the dim sum lunch with my mom. As you may already know, both of my parents are rather... concerned about my decision to move to Manchester... so it was really good to have an honest conversation with her about my relationship with Carlinhos and our goals pertaining to grad school, work, and family. Whether or not what was said affects my mom’s opinions about us, one thing is clear: Carlinhos makes one hell of a partner. As we talked through the many differences between my parents’ wishes and our own, I continually felt amazed, motivated, and empowered by his support. If anything was established through today’s talk with my mom, it’s the fact that Carlinhos and I are family.
