I introduce myself

Today, I am writing my inaugural post.

Firs of all, I am going to introduce myself: my name is Carlos, I am living in Spain and I am studying Hospitality and Business Management.

My hobbies are: go to the gym, play tennis, read about trading, tourism and politics, watch series and films like Naruto, Suits, Once Upon a Time, X-men, Harry Potter among other things.

Besides, I like most is travel, my dream is going on around the world and Know new cultures and different ways of seeing life. 

I am going to use this blog to show how is the new business man and chat about everything related with the tourism world and hotels.

Commencement

I’m sitting in Pacifica at a beach-side cafe, sipping my latte and listening to the melodic riffs of the guitar and bass.  Perfect day to start my very first blog.

I decided on a whim 2 weeks ago that I’d like to begin chronicling my personal and professional growth.  Anyone close to me will tell you that I’m not the journal-ing type.  I never really kept up my xanga and myspace profiles, and I didn’t have a journal under my pillow to get me through my teen angst - I used my friends and my mom and my sisters as my sounding board.  So why now?  

2 weeks ago, I passed the California bar.  I’ve wanted to be a lawyer for as long as I can remember.  I love learning, reading, getting to know the human psyche, connecting, sharing, and problem solving.  But I’ve realized in the five years since graduating from college (and thinking that I had my life figured out) that living is truly a journey that I can’t plan for (and that people don’t really have their lives figured out-at not least in their twenties).  And that’s perfectly ok. 

My life thus far has been full of joy, sorrow, beauty, growth, and surprises - far beyond what I was expecting and what I was really ready for.  Yet, I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface.  My life is just beginning, and I feel impatient, apprehensive, and excited when I think of what lies ahead.  

Well, at least that’s what I feel today. 

Anyway, I write to remember the lessons that I’m learning.  And I share in the message that we’re not alone.  I’ll be using this as a place to park my thoughts, my inspiration, and pieces of advice I’m collecting every day.

Ellen and Carlinhos Start a Tumblr

Ellen:  Since Carlinhos and I are heading back stateside in about a week, I thought, “why not start a Tumblr?” The hope is that we can use this as a space to document our experiences together as we move out of Rio and on to Manchester.

Carlinhos:  This is the 3rd page of a story. In the first one, she came to Brazil to find me, but had to leave soon. In the second one, she came to stay with me. Now we follow each other to a place that’s new for both. It is, again, an adventure. And this... well, this is to share the awesomeness.

Ellen:  ... And with that being said, here’s to keeping in touch through photos of our (okay, my) food cravings across Rio, San Francisco, Manchester, and everywhere in between!
