✦ Goodbye, I'll manage somehow without you || Kouji
Of course, Rui would first think of the little girl she had taken in some few years ago. It was in her nature, after all, and perhaps he too would have inherited a semblance of guilt if he had conducted himself in a similar manner. Though he knew, deep down, that he could never have attempted to leave her even if he had wished to; she would have followed him until the end.
Hate was a strong word, but Kouji felt inclined to agree somewhat. Hiyori would be bitter. Very bitter. She did not have the comprehension of the age that he held, nor the sentiment of farewells and reunions. The youngest re-code was still crippled by relations and emotions.
“Don’t worry about Hiyori. We’ll look after her.” It was their job now to care for small down trodden children found on the streets now, apparently. He and Yuki had to do a little rethinking over their current jobs; childcare had never fallen into their categories of assessment when they had originally joined the enigmatic grouping of individuals the Re-Codes formed.
There wasn’t much to say. She was right. He could very will bid her adieu and be on his way; but it could never stop at that, could it? From the very night that he had collected her by his side, entitling her with the name of comrade, she had become a special little someone in the male’s life. She was a member in the group they were a part of; a member that could not be replaced. No, they would never replace her. Only her number would be filled in by another, as to complete the balance that were opposed by the Code:Breakers, their rivals. Though at times he often wondered whether it was worth the struggle. The Code:Breakers were far from their level of competition, the light one aside. Heike.
Even if they were to part ways, she still had the will to face him and hear his farewell. That was something, wasn’t it? Though he sensed a reluctance in her words.
“No. No, sentimentalism was never your forte, nor was it ours. I’m not here to speak of sentiment.” He breathed with a shift in demeanour, watching the distance unfold between the two entities of opposing nature. One was a re-code. The other— the other was no longer riddled into the odd conjunction their peculiar organization formed. ‘Twas an odd affair, the two groups that often were at each other’s throats.
They were at opposite ends, and yet inevitably close, due to that one undeniable bond borne from that ‘accident’.
“Is that a challenge, Rui?” Features that knew nor decay nor degradation triggered by age curved into a peculiar smile. Even at the worst of times, she would attempt at bringing their exchanges to something to his appeal. “Then it’s my promise to you. No one will ever defeat me — not as long as we fight on the opposite ends of one single coin.” And that coin was the very basis of this world; the one held within Eden’s grasp, and was soon to be pilfered by their leader. It was quite simple really. To comply to the institution of grandeur as a mindless puppet, or follow the orders of one he considered to be his own?
He never really had understood the justice of code:breakers.
They had, however, consisted quite the form of entertainment over the years. She did also have the choice to melt into the background, departing through the shadows the guardian so astutely wielded. After all, from the moment she had crawled into his environs, never had she stopped to think of where she needed to go or where she wanted to go. She had followed in his footsteps as naturally as if it were the only option provided.
Something told Kouji that it wasn’t that simple.
He did not expect Rui to defend herself; he didn’t need the justification. Everything came with a reason.
“Then this is goodbye. Even if we meet again as enemies, my regards to you as a comrade will never change. Remember that.”
" Glad to hear that. " Hiyori was one of the first things she had to worry about, the ruin of this child's life was in a strand that the moment she left it would break. Hearing at least that they would watch over the young girl that became Rui's family simply reassured any other concern. Sacrifices were to be made, the love of a person was the price to pay. Although this was more of a choice she knew deep down that no other path awaited for the now former re:Code. Internally, she had to be ready to accept once again that there was no place for her to arrive but for sure she will construct from the ashes a place where she could belong again.
Somehow, everyone had to focus on that future.
Ideals of justice over one's emotions, that thin line that separated them slowly grew and finally left them into points where daring to approach the other would be deadly.
At least for now.
Silent understatement that eased the slight pressure caused over a gap that words could not fill. A certain incapacity to translate what her feelings had no knowledge about disturbed her thought process, there was a bothering sensation that incapacitated the woman to speak further. As if something was stuck in her now dry throat. Probably because there was so much to be said from her part but this moment demanded the guardian to be practical. Rui was not capable to tell apart now.
Blaming it on pure nostalgia, the desire to reach him and for once had any sort of intimate contact such as hugging her comrade awoke out of nowhere, a simple example to expand that bond that could pass the point of a mere emotional bond with little to almost none explanation to what managed to keep such distant individuals closer. Quickly averting her gaze away to prevent doing something so abrupt. It was..late for that. She knew it, there was no need to make this worst for both sides, specially when that was unlikely of them. Instead, the blue-haired woman stayed still, distracting herself by sliding her fingers through the door's frame, turning it into her playful distraction.
"The same goes for you, Kouji. You are always going to be my ...friend."
What was wrong with her ?
" For all these years, I don't expect anything else from you. Keep it up. I will become more strong too. " Hesitant to continue speaking, prolonging unconsciously the departure by replying vaguely, almost leaving aside the initial harsh tone of voice she wanted to keep as well. Vocal cords being fixed by a cough, leaning her head to rest on the cold material.
" Thanks for everything. " That will suffice.
That alone was enough to resume each emotion bottled over these years together. Now that there was no turn back, she knew deep down that this will not torn apart what united them. Whether there was no name for what attached Rui to Kouji, she will continue clinging onto it, firmly holding it and not letting it go. Turning it into her own strength and determination that will not falter.
" I'll see you soon.. "
So crying was not an option. Shedding tears for someone she haven't lose was wrong, almost hypocrite. Until the moment they reunite again. A smile was going to be the last thing he will see from her part.
Until then ...
Silently cheering for Kouji, no man deserves to be asked certain topics in his life.
✦ Goodbye, I'll manage somehow without you || Kouji
Both individuals had been very much alert. They had been waiting rather patiently by the lane adjacent to where the guardian now stood. From afar they could sense a shift in demeanour imparted by the parting figure; in place of her usual prideful form stood a figure that was griped with new born resolve, for it had previously been crippled by indecision. Resolutions had clearly been made, and there was no longer any room for the bitter sentiment of hesitation.
The scarred male’s back leaned carefully against the brick wall, ears quirking at the sound of fading footsteps, whilst the man by his side remained put, hands in his pockets. As a taciturn pair, they did not utter a word. Silence suited them; ‘twas enough for them to comprehend one another.
Yukihina did not spare a second longer, however. He had heard what he needed to hear. He turned his back, stepping away to retract towards the den governed by ‘The One Being Sought’. The dark-skinned power user would only halt midway, cocking his head sideways with the same expression of nonchalance that very few could decipher, to shoot Kouji a fleeting, nigh insignificant glance.
Almost as soon as the communication was upheld, Re:Code 04 returned to report for duty.
Of course Yuki would leave. Sentiment was not his forte, and even less when confrontation was due. Kouji would have expected no less.
They were left alone, he and Rui.
Comrade to comrade.
And she had called to him, either of them; asked for him to reveal himself amidst the penumbra. He did not deny her that request.
“It’s never been about forgiving, or holding a grudge.” The male known as the God of Destruction took a few steps forward, standing a breadth worth distance away from his former companion of arms. She was no longer that petite, helpless figure that had once followed him into the nightly air, refuting her femininity as means of displaying her determination to become his companion; nor was she the re:code she had grown to be along their side— along his side. No. Henceforth, she was neither of those things.
Hachiouji Rui had chosen to part ways with him.
He did not resent her decision. He couldn’t have believed that Rui would always stick by his side, could he? And this was a matter that resided in belief, and not friendship. To pick him over her own intentions would be crude.
“Did you expect me to be angry, Rui?” His voice was smooth, a ripple within the little wind that radiated from his flank. A hand pressed to the right of his hip, a grave mien inheriting his visage, as he awaited an instance of reliability on her part. “Look at me… Turn back towards me, comrade.”
Because that never changed, did it? ‘Betrayal’. The word came with an alien appeal. It was petty, and irrelevant. No matter where this little songbird went, he would always be one step ahead of her. Waiting for their next encounter; bracing himself with a new fortitude to circulate through his veins.
He had never been good at farewells.
But this wasn’t farewell – this was only the beginning.
Was there a way to call this sort of feeling ? In taste it only resembled the most pure bittersweet flavor. Only the two of them again, this being another of those intimate moments that always denoted that close bond.
Yet, if Rui had an option then evading to meet anyone currently was the wisest. Absence makes the heart grow fond but enclosing such possibility was enough for this guilt to be consumed away as the short life of a once vivid flame.
" Hiyori is going to hate me. " Another of her worries ahead, a show of concern obvious in her voice when mentioning what awaited for that kid who probably relied on Rui the most. Abandoning her mercilessly, such inexperienced heart would not understand like the other pair who knew the shadow user better than anyone. Covering the distraught that was drawn on her face with a whole palm, temples being massaged to drive off the chance of repent.
No, this will not change the chosen path. It made no less how awful she felt for leaving behind someone who expressed the need of Rui's company.
Comrade.
Sweet sounding word, almost luring to an extent when pronounced by the first who ever dared to call that little and hopeless girl that had nowhere to go. A offer she could not refuse, there was a tint of warmth in those words that gave a slight amount of hope, illuminating that once tainted path of darkness that awaited for her to fall in.
Head turn to follow the order to face him directly, ice-like gaze met with those features that never faltered in sight of trouble, the ones that for the longest time continued to admire and look upon. Yet, they remained as equals despite the obvious difference that distanced them for the first years.
Blue dreadlocks shook in response. If she were more of a smartass then daring to laugh would suit to that egoistic scenario of a disappointed Kouji due this so-called betrayal. She would expect something more different, not sure why but Rui's suspicion seemed certain at most. Daring to allow a curve at the corner of her lips was enough. " There's not much to say. You know it. "
Adding anything else was risky.
" Kouji, I -- "
In all honesty, what she was supposed to say? Who ever prepared people to choose carefully their sentences until forming a speech that would be engraved in their minds for years, a promise that no one could erase. Speaking was a waste right now. Neither of them were the talkative type.
" No, sentimentalism is not my forte. Let's put it like this. Don't lose to anyone, will you ? It would be upsetting to think of you like that meanwhile I am not around. "
✦ Goodbye, I'll manage somehow without you || Kouji
...For the longest time she found herself hesitant of accomplishing this new mission that was placed carefully on her hands. A human used to loss should be less doubtful. What a foolish woman Hachiouji Rui turned out to be.
In a night, she accepted her soon to be title. A traitor. It suited perfectly the actions her decision will take. Nevertheless, her attitude was terribly calm for what she was doing currently. Whatever they believed from now and own will be the guardian's judgement and despite it weakened her resolve, it would not stop her. They taught her how to go forward, this will be no different... No, no at all.
A slender figure admired the street, all lights off from the place where each member of re:Code could dare naming home if a tender situation were to be brought. Nothing but that black coat was her possession, decided to leave in the same way she arrived-- with nothing.
All what they did would go to a waste when trespassing the door and no leaving a single trace behind, finger placed carefully at the corner only to draw imaginary lines before continuing and giving herself the pleasure of looking at those precious memories that now seemed nothing. It was selfish to believe they will understand. A reunion in a nearer future was certain but the very moment they saw each other again their bonds would not be the same. She was aware of it but accepted the consequences, not daring to mourn for what she was sacrificing.
" It's fine if none of you can't forgive me. " Through her body a forced ease was sent when pronouncing those words directed at no one in specific. " You can show yourself now. It's fine, you were going to notice anyway. " Until adding another sentence was when denoting a different presence that did not startle Rui's calm demeanor. Why it should now of all times ? Whoever it was, internally she silenced her possible apologies and excuses for this scenario.
It didn't matter now.
ooc; Do you mind giving me your skype? It'd be easier to talk things there. Also, I don't think things are going to go down too well between Kouji and Rui when they meet again. I mean, during the whole fight against Saechika, they hardly had time to think about it, but now that that's over, it's obvious that Kouji had something to do with Saechika due to their similar scars. I don't know what exactly would happen but I'm guessing they're gonna have a talk.
My skype is boss-spain (Empress Paradox), I’ll be out in no time so leave up a message there so I can reply back. Rui is now going through a hard time, of course she is behaving better than others about this situation and controls her emotions because they need her. When she has a chance she will talk. She will neither ignore what happened about this by obvious reasons but I believe her head is cool in sake to be there at full for her friends.
-Sigh- I guess I couldn’t expect that much from you.
What will you do if his time runs out?
[He expressed it as if things would be her fault for not going as he wished for them, but that was just part of the usual behavior against her. If they couldn’t get the information needed, Heike’s plan would also be at a stalemate and although he could wait, why would he do it? He had to get things back in motion somehow.]
"I doubt he will."
Aside from chasing chicks, Zed did not seemed very willing to leave at all. She shouldn't be on his back all the time anyway, it was horrible. No-- it was a torture and she knew why of everyone in the group she was the one chosen for the task. Not even booze would ever heal these new scars from her soul and whole dignity. No one in this world should deem her resolution to a mere infatuation.
"Hey, don't say it like it's my whole responsibility. We are in this together, not just me. "
Why aren’t you working yourself to the bone as you should?
[Obvious annoyance with her presence wasn’t even tried to be hid. Maybe it was because of their opposing elements but Heike couldn’t get along with Rui up to this day.]
"You mean babysitting Zed? I got tired of that bastard."
With the right of replying with the same hostility, even daring to complain about the derogatory attitude toward her she never tried to change such. Did she thought she deserved this? Maybe. However, winning Heike's sympathy was in her last priorities, covered under a mountain of empty bottles of booze.

Oh. You…
Hm? What about me this time?
"I've vowed to my comrade, Hachiouji Rui, at the time we parted... never to lose to anyone."
It is not like I forgot the mail of this blog and just found it again. Not at all.
What the hell was this place? It didn’t take but a moment to realize this wasn’t Shizume City at all, such an obscure atmosphere to the skateboarder. Wasn’t he just passed out on the couch back at the bar? With that notion— most would assume it would be a dream, however, this didn’t feel like it. Now that he thought hard about it, he didn’t remember what he was doing last. It was just as if— he ended up here.
An unfamiliar tone hit his ear, hazel eyes striking over to an older looking female. Did it look that obvious that he was lost?
“Yeah, where am I?”
" What an idiot. " An irritated sigh was Rui's initial reply the bonus was the obvious deception drawn on her facial gestures now that she has to throw aside her more or less peaceful night. Usually having to focus on the house labours was far relaxing than Not many people were around at that such a high hour of night, only someone with a lack of common sense would ignore the fact. Though this guy had all the characteristics of a notorious fool.
The beautiful option of replying his question and letting him go alone was there, shining brightly in the depths of Rui's mind. However, it was not something that will let her sleep tonight. Ah, whatever ...
" It'll be troublesome if you go by yourself. Follow me. " It was not a question. He had to follow her, it was not an option to be negotiated and the prince expected to be obeyed. A few steps were given, indicating that she was being entirely serious about the first statement.
" Are you hungry by the way? " Turning her head around for the last moment, Rui lifted the plastic bag with the goods she attempted to hide at the beginning, now it was the last thing she should worry about.
Sooo... how do you feel about Toki?
"Why in the world you want to know?"
"Toki is an entire fool. He is such a kid sometimes..." Thinking about it better, their relationship has grew and deepened. At the beginning they were difficult with each other. One louder, the other too commanding. Then the incident with the re-code ... Though, all of those things have only managed for them to grow closer. Toki is one of Rui's important comrades. She cares about him, that's something impossible to deny. Pfft, not like the prince will admit it so easily.

Too many people, too many damn people. Most kids at the top of it.
Did Rui looked like a babysitter? Or anyone friendly in the matter. Being more specific, did she had even a welcoming face for anyone to be interested in approaching the prince? Drawing the limits now was a good idea if she wanted to have her personal space respected from the get to go.
"Does this looks like a goddamn circus to you!?"
