been a good couple of years since i've talked about my krbk playlist but i have slowly been adding onto it over time, so i thought it'd be fun to update :)
it is kinda funny to update this now since some of these songs i added way back in 2020, and i'm not head over heels with all of them anymore - this playlist is definitely a time capsule and i really like seeing my music taste and thoughts on krbk reflected back at me over time. so just for added context i'm gonna organize these by which year i added them! :) it also looks like i've removed a song or two since writing this but i'll just be continuing where the numerals left off

neon trees has a really good streak of krbk songs imo, their lyrics can be very very YA which really brings to mind pining teenage disaster bakugou katsuki. this song that's all jokingly about how totally devastating it is to be a teenager suffering through a crush - "i don't wanna go out, just wanna sit. inside. my bedroom. and obsess over everything i say to you" - it's soooooo "i have to go to bed at 8:32 because i'm not gonna admit i care about my crush"

this cover just because that's the version spotify recommended to me way back then, but another fun bkg pov one!! this song's story, where the narrator has a crush on someone who's totally oblivious and they won't make a move but are still bitter and jealous about how that person keeps bringing their boyfriend around, is very krbk to me. poor kirishima would totally introduce his new boyfriend to his best friend bkg and get confused about why bkg's so prickly and not even giving the guy a shot. it actually reminds me a lot of this deviance fic, which leans a lot more into the devastating aspect of thinking you've missed your chance to matter to the person who matters most to you. this one's just fun, though. bkg's not gonna teach kirishima's stupid little boyfriend to dance!! stop asking!!!

another complete classic. this one i've always associated with krbk bc of the comic - ludehi unfortunately deactivated and the only page of theirs i can find is their toyhouse account which i don't believe is up to date, so i can't link to them directly, but i consider this foundational krbk work hahahaha. sometimes i feel a little dumb about associating songs like this or the "then i'd have to know you on purpose" post with krbk because ultimately krbk meet as teenagers when they're still forming their identities so it's not like they have that much history behind them yet, but i get emotional about how they do, from the start, take each other at face value as the person they're trying to be - bkg katsuki never once pries into kirishima "ei-chan" eijirou's past, kirishima never has to defend himself for wanting to make himself an outspoken and unreserved person, bkg just sees him, and kirishima is such a complete fresh start for bkg, he's not looking to make bkg explain years of his past, just determined to make a friend and a slightly kinder hero out of him. oooouuuugh. love them so much

:) i always loved how dramatic this one is. krbk aren't the most sun/moon couple ever, but there are an extremely summertime couple (more on that later), and the idea of their meeting being like the very sun and moon colliding always really appealed to me. romantic!!
side note, just recently i listened to where are your boys tonight which is a history of the 2000s emo boom told entirely thru interviews with band members/producers/journalists who were right at the center of it - really really interesting!! i never knew much about panic (i didn't even know they were still in high school when pete wentz signed them - nor did i know it was pete wentz who signed them) and the chapter about them renting a log cabin and doing shrooms while listening to the beatles in order to write this album was funny

:) it's THAT serious. kirishima eijirou exists and bakugou katsuki is gonna have a heart attack about it. rude of him!!! this one is just soooo extremely sweet, i remember drawing the boys in those iconic yellow suits maaaany many years ago. YOU attack my heart!!!

oddly enough not on spotify atm, but this is one i heard and immediately associated w krbk. bright loud and energetic sound!!

a foundationalllllll krbk song to me. definitely a cornerstone of the "krbk haven't spoken since they broke up and fell out around ua graduation, they've grown up but haven't moved on" genre. the intensity and the anger while feeling like you can't have the person you know you're supposed to be with has always screamed bkg to me
last year i got the chance to see it live since the happy fits are back + better than ever + held a very cute tour, and so my life feels a little more complete :)

i was very very late to learn this song so it completely rocked my world. another total classic but i do think it's fair to claim it for krbk because they are such HUGE MONUMENTAL forces in each other's lives!!! i just love any krbk songs that emphasize how enormous they are to each other

THIS one i was early for okay. months before it blew up i submitted this for our "best song to cheer yourself up" competition in japanese class and won. it's funny that it's gotten a bit trite but that guitar line and the soaring chorus and the concept "you will always be my favorite form of loving" :') sooo sweet. they were so meant to be

i know this one is harder to sell since the lyrics are in japanese but i need you to trust me when i say this is theeee krbk song THEEEEEEEE krbk song. quite possibly the most krbk song of all time. starting to develop feelings for your annoying friend who you never would've thought you'd see that way, and being confused about it and excited and then confused about why you're excited, and soooo frustrated because they know you so they KNOW it's not like you to feel this way, and knowing it's so close to happening but just waiting to see if he's gonna make a move or if you're gonna have to do something about it - here's another line from the climactic bridge -

"girl" from the female singer as "just for once, think of me as an OPTION." friends to lovers is so meaningful when it's queer, sooo complicated with boys like krbk. "treat me like i'm an option for you. stop skirting around it. if you want me come at me like you want me." it's so so so so teenage bakugou to me it's incredible. multiple times in my life i've been listening to this song and started thinking about krbk and got so excited that i had to start running. being neurodivergent is awesome. lol.

listen listen listen listen listen. listen to meeeeee. this song still aches so bad when you think about krbk having a teenage summer where they just can't stop narrowly missing each other. being young and walking home at night, under a pink sky in the warm air, staying up too late, saying bye at the porch, getting SOOOO close to having each other - especially when i think about this song being from kirishima's perspective...something i was thinking about recently is how often kirishima is trying to play the mediator and moodmaker and how much he thinks about how what he says affects people around him, and how much he tries to deescalate situations and keep the vibe smooth among classmates - do you think that boy is making a move on his best friend and the culmination of all his dreams when they're in the same tiny little friend group and it's their last summer together? absolutely not. i love you!! ain't that the worst thing you've ever heard!!!!!

the "old people in love" song of all time. this one is on here mostly because i was really attached to it for a while and thinking about it all the time, but i do still think it's really sweet. just the two of them singing about how they're old farts loving each other's imperfections and happy to be getting old together. someday that will be krbk!!!!

more musings on krbk getting back together after being apart, but i really like how inevitable it feels in this one. also how the narrator's not really fighting it. dolly's voice is so wistful. imagine kirishima spending time with bkg for the first time after years, when they're both feeling it out and it's kind of feeling like...this is gonna work, and just resigning himself to it. here i go!

a heavy hitter, but the lyrics of this song are so, so achingly bkg to me. the overwhelming love the narrator is clearly feeling versus the self-deprecating tone to the way they talk about their lover and the devastation they have towards the thought of not having them, and the desperation in this line to prove to them they love them - i've seen people say you should not play this at your wedding because the sad parts are too sad, but for a krbk playlist, i think it balances out with the love perfectly

what was that about teenage love i feel like i haven't talked about that enough. outside of the obvious i just really love this song man. it's so deeply peaceful and romantic. the wave of peace that washed over me after they finished playing it when i saw them last fall is just impossible to overstate. kiribaku meant to be forever!! you can run away with me anytime you want!!!!!!

opposite side of the spectrum, i like the aggression in this song, it's also very bkg to me. the phrasing of "we're NOT friends" when you're making a move on someone is fun. i always imagine them studying in bkg's room and after kirishima says smth like "man i'm so lucky to have a smart friend like you" bkg slams him against the wall

funny it took me so long to add this given it's another classic "it has to be you" song, but i just like how solidly the feeling that the two belong with each other (and both understand that) comes across in this one

this album is partially about apocalypse and a lot of this song's lyrics are about holding someone close to you when you maybe didn't think you'd get to see them again or even think you'd survive this long, so more recently it's been reminding me of bkg's death/revival. imagine truly loving someone and knowing that you understand each other in a way nobody else does, and living with the knowledge that at a time that they/you were dead. and that could happen again. you'd just have to hold them that much closer

foundational and gorgeous. i stubbornly kept this song out of my playlist back then because back in high school i overplayed it at guitar recitals/contests, but it really is undeniable how beautifully krbk it is. the only exception :')

most recent add, found thanks to someone else's playlist!! how does it get much more krbk than this!! feelgood guitar rock, just being a given that you'll stick with someone, that you've got each other's backs, pock rocks in the title!!! what a fitting note to end this post on. it's so fun to go back to this playlist or listen to other people's krbks playlists (or just single songs!) because it's soooo fun listening to the lyrics and thinking about different aspects of their relationship or really specific feelings or them at different ages or in different scenarios - love those guys in any timeline in any stage of their life in any universe
