Checking In
The Naum was seated on a decrotive wall, his feet tucked under his knees, resting his elbows on his knees. He had more than a few minutes between classes in which to clear his head. With nothing in his hands, he allowed himself to sink into a sort of reverie. IT was not long, however, before a voice slipped into his reverie. His head felt like it was filled with cottom. He blinked slightly and looked up at the figure in front of him.
It was the guidance counselor who had greete him on his first day. A pleasant person with features which were both friendly and open. Taeyong, despite his cotton-head feeling, smiled brightly. “Oh hello, I am sorry for seeming so out of it.” He nibbled his bottom lip, “I do hope you weren’t standing there long.” He listened carefully as they asked him a series of questions. He wanted to keep close track so that he could get himself out of his distracted state. “Oh! They’re going really well!” His smile brightened still more. “Well I’m taking Botany…Korean 3…Sociology.” A short moment of thought, “Psychology, Music 2 and Art history.” Another pause. “Ooh! and Human Protocols…and Rocket Science. Heh, I am taking the lot, I suppose.”
Eileen tilted their head slightly as the other seemed a bit lost in their own world. “No need to be sorry, I just sort of appeared didn’t I?” They asked wrinkling their nose a little bit with a smile still on their lips before continuing to talk to them, “Is everything alright though?” They ask as there are many different reasons to be ‘out of it’ such as being tired, or just day dreaming.
They couldn’t help but get wide eyes as the other talked about all the classes they were part of. “Eight classes?” Eileen asks a bit shocked and impressed at the same time. “Well I’m glad that they’re going well, just make sure to balance your time out alright? I don’t want to see you getting stressed with all the work that comes with taking so many classes at once.” They said genuinely concerned for the others wellbeing when it came to having a social life and maintaining good grades, not to mention their mental health.
