harperâs tapping the button on the elevator over and over, not quite hopping as she does it but unable to stay still. âcâmon, hurry, hurry.â she talks at the elevator. âugh, fine.â she turns away from the elevator. âthis things broken, amuse me before i do something stupid.âÂ
âiâm not opposed to something stupid just for the eternal records but as you wish,â eilidh took a dramatic breath, waggling her fingers and readying herself for the entertainment. âalright, here we go! did you hear about these new reversible jackets? iâm excited to see how they turn out. or hey, donât trust atoms, they make up everything. rip to boiled water... you will be mist.â
âSee the trouble Iâm having here?â She held out the notepad sheâd quickly doodled (although, not too badly) what she imagined a kelpie would look like. In all honestly, what sheâd drawn was a sort of unicorn-with-gills which was a little weird, sheâd admit. âI want to stay true to the âusually a black horseâ part of it but what with kelpies being shape shifting water spirits- how am I to know? How are we ever going to get some really cool floats in this pool, you know what I mean?â

21:20Â Â â Â inside the lounge.
( Â open to all ! Â )
occupying a corner table, tucked away in the background, a steaming cup of coffee perched next to ophelia, her red-polished fingertips flicked through the pages of a black moleskine notebook. if sheâd been further engrossed, she might have failed to take notice of the figure approaching. suddenly, her deft digits ceased in their movement as sapphires cast a brief glimpse upwards ; momentarily considering the person before her. finally, an expression of indifference claimed opheliaâs expression. â listen, â she began, reaching for her fountain pen to scribble an almost illegible note onto the paper. â i donât have a lot of time to waste. so i suggest you either take a seat or move along. â her tone was laced with mild irritation, words evident with subtle annoyance.
there were a lot of cool people at hawthorne, it was part of the reason that eilidh liked working there. some people were chatty, some werenât but she was always willing to share a fun fact or warning about the government. or sometimes just gush about kelpies- it just depended on her mood. anyway, sheâd grabbed a tea after her shift and was supposed to be looking for a free seat when sheâd got distracted by the blonde and her notebook. âoh, shi--- okay, yeah. iâll do that!â eilidh could just tell she was a super cool lady boss type which meant she was staring. oops. but câmon, did you hear that? âi donât have time to wasteâ - total badass. âsorry about that, i was looking for a seat for me and the tea but- well, your notebook is fab. i love it. are you writing down your step-by-step plans for world domination? because i definitely see you being able to do that. you have the energy.â
đđđ đđđđđđđđđ đđđđđ tiny frame out on one of the couches in the lounge, getting comfortable. They didnât occupy much of the large couch so Leo wasnât surprised when someone sat down beside them, especially considering how quickly the room was filling up as lunchtime was approaching. Turning to face the other with a playful gleam in their eye, Leo grinned. âBienvenue! Are you here to people watch with me too?âÂ
Eilidh thought she was being super subtle when she sat herself down beside Leo Carre. Whenever there was a famous person around the hotel, she tried to sneak a glimpse of them so, actually, maybe this was pretty brazen. Either way, she beamed when they addressed her. âHi there! Yes, absolutely. Love it. I mean, this hotel always has the wildest guests and, like, the coolest which you know since youâre, you know, you. Anyway,â she breathed out, gesturing towards one of the guests, âSee the one in the fantastic hat? With the purple jacket? I imagine that theyâre, like, this eccentric billionaire that couldnât take the loneliness of their haunted castle walls anymore so they came here for the company then decided to stay.â

if one were attempting to seek out the male, you would be sure to find him roaming the corridors and hallways of the hotel. mostly, stood at the doors of the main entrance. tonight, however, he was making the most of his night off, perched atop one of the few vacant stools dotted alongside the bar. with calloused digits curled around his glass, dark orbs peered into its amber-coloured contents. propping an elbow against the wooden surface, ezra took a long sip, welcoming the familiar burn that trailed a path down his throat. it was nice, having a quiet drink to himself and seeking solace in the bottom of a glass was far from foreign to ezra and so far, so good. although, like all good things, they must come to and end and as a figure slid into the empty seat next to him, he fought the urge to roll his eyes. lowering his glass whilst holding onto it in a rather precarious manner, ezra cast a sideways glance toward the other. â if youâve come over here for idle chit-chat, iâm afraid youâre wasting your time, â he stated, tone flat and laced with utter indifference. taking another sip of his whiskey, the maleâs attention remained fixed upon surveying his immediate surroundings.Â
eilidh was starving. her still-wet hair was scooped up on top of her head and sheâd pulled on her old, slightly ratty college sweatshirt. before leaving the poolside, sheâd warned everyone to behave (of course she wasnât the only lifeguard there but still) and made her way into the lounge. she was totally craving a mocktail. or a tea... she was busy trying to decide, not totally aware that she was buzzing in his space until he spoke. a grin spread over her face at the sound of that grumpy tone as she hauled herself up onto the bar stool beside him, settling her cheese fries down on the bar top. âwell, someoneâs a grizzly gizmo today, eh?â the security guys here always looked so stoic and mysterious, she thought. maybe he was a man in black. bugging the hotel, collecting their emails and data. he probably knew where the aliens were really being kept. âhere, have a cheese fry. theyâre the perfect pairing for whiskey and as the resident scot, you can trust me on that. well actually, we think that just about anything greasy, cheesy or dipped in batter goes with whiskey but ho hum, mister bodyguard.â

Eilidh MacDonald / 23 / Scottish / Life Guard @Hawthorne for 1 year ând counting
cw; death, car accident
Eilidh (ay-lee or ay-leh and the worst to spell) MacDonald was born in Scotland in a little seaside town. There were cobbled streets and rocky cliffs and freezing cold waves. She used to sit up on the rocks and imagine being a million miles away, what wondrous creatures lurked in the depths of the water and sheâd sketch them too. Wanderlust may well be her middle name.
She went to America with her mum for a summer to roadtrip and eat corn dogs and stuff when her mum met him. Eilidhâs dad-to-be. They had a bit of a thing, he was eccentric and had a bit of money and he made her mum happy. It was fairytale worthy when he flew out to Scotland just to see her again and really, the rest is history.
The MacDonald gals packed up and moved to the states. Eilidh studied art, she dreamed big, she lived a wonderful, carefree life. She adventured and scraped her knees and drank a lot of grape Fanta (thereâs a serious lack of it back home). She may have been a struggling artist but she definitely wasnât a starving one thanks to her parents.
She made the best, the very best of friends when she was at college. They were inseparable and she loved them so much. They listened to her endless theories, let themselves get covered in her paint and glitter. There was a deer. A freakinâ deer. It all happened so fast, they tried to swerve but... The car was wrecked. She didnât remember much past the screaming, the glass, the blood on her face. The moment she woke up and found out that none of her friends had woken up was the worst day of her life.
It took time, itâs still taking time, but she decided to get a job at the hotel away from home, away from the memories and reminders. It wasnât the adventures she and her friends had planned, it wasnât plugging her art to anyone whoâd listen, it wasnât discovering another wonder of the world but it was something. It was something. Then it was fun, it was good. She likes her job, she likes all the new people. Itâs a welcome distraction.
