How has the background changed in your photo in relation to your subject?
Going from 50mm to 18mm the background gains more focus. The 50mm has a very shallow depth of field, where as the 18mm doesn’t so much.
50mm
This portrait was taken at 50mm. A 50mm lens is considered to be similar to the human eye, there is a shallow depth of filed which make you focus on the subject.
35mm
This image is similar to the 50mm. As you can see the background has more focus, and not as shallow depth of field.
18mm
This image was taken at 18mm which shows a wider angle of the subject and background. This focal length distorts the subjects face and more of the background is in the frame.
