A New Beginning ; Juniper & Eirlys
Wiping the sweat off of her brow, Juniper had released a heavy exhale, stepping foot out of the building she now called her home. She had one hand upon her forehead, shielding her hazel irises from the bright rays of the sun, the other upon her hip, as she allowed her curious gaze to explore her surrounding environment. Her observances fascinated her; from the abundance of people rushing about mindlessly like ants, to the vibrancy of colours splattered everywhere, the noises that caused her senses to go into overdrive. It was nothing alike to her homeland, the dreary Scotland in which she grew up in. The thought made her stomach twist, a feeling which she couldn’t quite determine was out of excitement, or complete anguish.Â
With a rather sudden, deafening honk of a horn, the girl had been quick to snap out of her thoughts, nearly jumping out of her skin. She turned her head in search for the source of the noise, only to be met by the gaze of the much too impatient (and much too unhelpful, now that she thought of it), worker. “Are you gonna get the rest of your stuff, or not?” The male snapped, making evident his ill temper. Having not been one for conflict, she had merely kept her head down and moved off to collect more of her items from the back of the truck.Â
Equipped with an overflowing box cradled upon her hip, Juniper had spun around; apparently much too quickly, for the frail cardboard material had given out, and spilt its contents upon the pavement before her. Los Angeles had lived up to its reputation, not a single bystander so much as batting a lash as they stepped over, and in some cases, stepped upon her items. “Hey!” The girl had exclaimed, quick to fall upon her knees as she attempted to gather her belongings. “Christ,” She muttered underneath her breath, head shaking. She had barely been there a day, yet the place seemed to be rejecting her already.
Eirlys had a very big hangover, something that wasn't entirely uncharacteristic for the blonde girl given her love for the nightlife. With sunglasses perched on her nose and a coffee in her hand, all her thoughts were of grabbing McDonalds and burying herself in greasy food. Obviously she needed to walk Barney too and her old man was happy to trot alongside her and she definitely got the sense that he was judging her antics. "I'm an adult okay?" Eirlys mockingly huffed at the beagle who simply responded by bumping up against her legs in a clear demand for petting. "Ugh, you're lucky that you're cute kiddo," She sighed again before giving in and fussing the top of his head.
They'd taken a casual stroll around, coming back with greasy food in hand and were on the way back. For all of LA's reputation as being fitness crazed, green things were the one thing that you could never sell Eirlys on. That was when she saw the girl and her things falling over the floor, while people were people and seemingly were content on going about their day. Pushing her sunglasses up on top of her forehead and squinting with annoyance at the light, the blonde hurried over to see if she could help. "You okay?" were the first words to fall down from her lips as she knelt down to try and help.
She reached down, Barney's lead looped around her arm as she did her best to gather some of the girls things up. Handing a few to her, Eirlys offered her a sympathetic smile. "I did the same thing when I moved into my apartment. I packed a metric fuckton of books into my boxes and bam all over the floor," She let out a laugh, "I felt like a numpty though, don't think I could help it though. It happens, especially around here," She glanced around, trying to see if there was anyone with the girl - like her parents had been with her. "So first apartment?" Eirlys asked "Or?" She let the question hang in the air.
