Sometimes I can still hear her singing it and if I close my eyes I can see her clapping to the beat between the natural beat. She always marched to the beat of her own drum. The words of her favorite song are a consummate representation of her. She believed in being thankful for everything that she had. She thanked and praised God on the good days and she thanked and praised him harder on the bad days. Thankful. I'm thankful I got the opportunity to see this. I'm thankful that my family and I had the opportunity to be showered with love and wisdom for so many years. I'm thankful that I found a best friend in somebody who constantly lead me in the right direction no matter the situation. I could go on and on about why I thank God for blessing me with such an exceptional grandmother. As I get older, I see Grandma in my family. Auntie Bertha has adopted so many of her habits. I can barely look at Uncle Raymond because he looks so much like her. My mom is starting to act more and more like her. One day I was at my mom's house and I just sat on the couch and listened to her talk for a couple hours just as I used to do at Grandma's. I would go there and fall asleep on the floor just listening to her talk to me. I always say me and Grandma had a relationship like nobody else. But, everybody feels like that. She was special in that way. She always made everyone feel like they were the only one. Her love was unique. Grandma inspired me and continues to inspire me. My hero left physically 3 years ago, but is present here with me today more than ever. God Bless you Jennie.
