“God himself could not sink this ship.” Gabriela spoke, mostly to herself, repeating words that had been said to her wealthy peers as they began the voyage. With only a railing separating her from the vast ocean, the duchess of Cambridge looked at the immensity of it with a thirst for adventure lurking beneath her skin. “Hopefully God doesn’t take those words as a challenge.” The noble woman mused, unaware of anyone was there to listen.
Eleanor watched Gabriela closely, taking a small step forward to stand next to her friend. Whom she was lucky to have on such a long journey away from home. The two young women had only met a few weeks prior and had become fairly close. Her eyes peering over the railing, watching the loud waves crash against the side of the massive passenger liner. The hairs on the back of her neck standing up as she realized just how high up they were. “God wouldn’t dare challenge a ship like this.” She swallowed thickly, eyes meeting with the younger ladies. Doing her best to hide the fear of heights she had. her hands came up to grip the railing.
