All Her Fault just shows how men do little to pull their weight and end up placing all accountability on women for mistakes due to stress, lack of sleep, and pressure. Jake Lacy's character never picks up his son and is constantly powertripping over others by instilling guilt in their minds, while Dakota Fanning's onscreen husband is so set on blaming her character that even the investigative cop calls it out. They're working moms and still are expected to do all the homemaking/chores. But a man thinks he can take a night off to do nothing but watch reels in a parking lot. This limited series is about feminism.

I just found out about the late Mina Kim last night and I'm still thinking about her. I found out on Reddit and went to Twitter. I came across the video where she livestreamed herself (you know what).
My condolences to her loved ones.

I don't think this conversation is really about K-pop.
It's about what happens when thousands of people convince themselves that someone on the other side of a screen isn't a person anymore.
This week, I've been thinking a lot about Mina, an ENGENE whose death has shaken not only ENHYPEN's fandom but many people outside of it as well. While details surrounding the situation continue to develop, one thing remains painfully clear: she endured an overwhelming amount of online harassment before she died. That alone should stop all of us in our tracks.
Some people immediately wanted to figure out who to blame, ('toxic engenes/solo stans are responsible!')
Others wanted to defend their favorite idol.
Others wanted to prove another fandom was worse, ('stays' fault btw')
And somehow, in all of that noise, the person who actually died became another talking point.
That's what disturbed me the most.
The internet has become frighteningly comfortable with treating people like fictional characters. Once someone is labeled "problematic; messy," "annoying; pmo," or "embarrassing; corny," empathy seems to disappear. The punishment doesn't stop after criticism. It becomes mockery. Then mass harassment. Then digging through personal information. Then encouraging everyone else to pile on because "they deserve it."
At some point, accountability quietly turns into entertainment.
People often justify this by saying, "Well, I only left one comment."
Maybe you did.
But one hateful comment multiplied by thousands isn't one comment anymore.
It's a flood.
And no human being is built to withstand that.
K-pop fandoms aren't the only communities where this happens, but they're one of the clearest examples of parasocial relationships gone wrong. Fans become emotionally invested in idols they don't know personally. Sometimes that love transforms into possessiveness. Suddenly every interaction is analyzed like evidence in a criminal investigation. Every facial expression becomes a theory. Every mistake becomes a moral failing.
Eventually, fans start policing each other more than they support the artists they claim to love.
Ironically, many idols have repeatedly asked fans to be kind—not just to them, but to one another.
Instead, we've normalized quote-tweeting strangers for thousands of people to laugh at. We've normalized doxxing. We've normalized harassment campaigns. We've normalized acting as though ruining someone's life is a proportionate response to an awkward moment at a concert.
Some people have argued that Mina wasn't completely innocent. Others insist she apologized. Others are still debating exactly what happened.
But I keep asking myself a different question.
When did innocence become a requirement for basic human compassion?
I've made mistakes.
You've made mistakes.
Everyone has posted something embarrassing, misunderstood a situation, or acted emotionally at some point in their lives.
More of us are lucky enough not to have ten of thousands of strangers documenting every second of it.
That's the privilege anonymity gives us.
The internet also creates a dangerous illusion of distance. We type words into a screen and forget they arrive on another screen held by someone with a beating heart, friends, family, insecurities, and bad days. It's easy to think comments disappear into the void.
They don't.
They accumulate.
Researchers have spent years documenting the effects of cyberbullying, and the findings are remarkably consistent: sustained online harassment can have severe psychological consequences, especially when it becomes public, repetitive, and impossible to escape. Social media doesn't simply allow critism to spread, it allows it to follow someone every hour of every day.
What makes this situation even sadder is watching people continue fighting after her death.
People are still arguing about fandoms.
Still debating idols.
Still trying to "win."
It's as if some have learned nothing.
If there's anything this tragedy should teach us, it's that internet cruelty doesn't always look dramatic. Most of the time, it looks ordinary. It's sarcasm. Dogpiling. Mocking someone because everyone else is doing it. Sharing another hateful post because "it's funny." Treating another person's humiliation like your own entertainment.
Nobody believes they're the villain.
Everyone thinks they're just participating.
Until participation becomes persecution.
I don't know what Mina was feeling during her final days, and I don't want to pretend that I do. None of us can fully understand another person's inner world.
What I do know is that no one deserves to become the target of relentless harassment.
Not because they're perfect.
But because they're human.
Maybe that's the lesson we've forgotten online.
Before usernames.
Before fandoms.
Before opinions.
Before algorithms.
There is always a person.
And maybe if we remembered that more often, fewer conversations like this would ever have to be written.
I think people forget that kpop (any hobby really) is supposed to be FUN. It shouldn’t have to feel like a full time job. You can be a fan and not want to stream a music video or song to get an idol/group in to the millions. You can be a fan and not contribute funds to pay for a billboard. You can be a fan and not want to purchase physical albums or merch. You can be a fan of just the music and not care for anything outside that. You can be a fan and not want to participate in fandom culture. You can be a fan and understand that this is something that you enjoy and feel happy with to whatever capacity you want. I’m tired of the few loud fans who make it so that you feel like you’re not enjoying something “properly” by prioritizing things outside of something that is meant to be fun and not take up your entire life.
