"So..." Cara stretches, locking her hands together and pushing them up above her head, "who's ready to help me spar a bit? I think my body needs some waking up." Grinning, the queen began to warm up in her exercise attire.

Venix tiled his head to the side. He’d heard of hueless, some sort of demons from beyond the world of mortals who suck souls and life and color or something like that, but never seen one.

“Where at?” It seems he was eager to get started at least. “Is it safe to have people standing by and watching while something that dangerous is running loose?”

“…they are dangerous, right?”

Cara breathed out a sigh, and remarked,

“They’re the antithesis of all life, made for the sole purpose of consuming it. Is it safe? Of course not. But these aren’t just “people” that will be joining us. They’ll be my finest knights--they’re likely going to show you up in the battle.”

Cara hoped that she was wrong with that; if she wasn’t, Ven wouldn’t be getting much in the way of training. “...Hueless are the most dangerous foes on the planet. Ghost contains a living soul, which means that it’ll be able to deal with the Hueless, but they’re still beyond tough.”

“This going to be before or after you send me off to learn to be a knight?” Venix did perk up a little. After more than a month held up recovering in her palace from his wounds he was eager to get back on moving, doing things.

Besides, this sounded like a job, that was something he was familiar with.

“Did a war start while I was recovering? Where am I needed?”

“No war started, I promise,” she chuckled in response, standing up straight and shaking her head.

“And the two are one in the same; you’ll be demonstrating your prowess on the field in order for the trainers to determine what you need work on--and what you’re excellent at. As for what we’ll be fighting...” she was smirking wider, “...you’re going to get to meet some Hueless.”

“Ahh,” Cara counters in a hum of understanding, “But I cannot help but wonder--who watches the watchers? You are only mortal after all--as am I. Who is there to counter us, should we falter?”

A sad smile spreads across the queen’s face then, and she folds her hands together in front of herself.

“...I cannot help but recall a young man I knew once, a long time ago.” Golden eyes flicked up to Leona’s own set, boring into the woman’s mind and very essence. “His name was Torius--and he wanted to change the world. He had the power to do it, too.” Her sad smile grew a little more bitter, as she continued,

“...Then, one day--he grew fearful of the scale of the universe before him. He grew fearful, and began to believe that the only way to save his people was by destroying them. I had to destroy him, in the end...and I still find myself unsure of whether or not it was the right thing.” Cara’s expression grew weary in that moment, and for a brief glimpse, she was merely human once more.

                  An  affirmation  came  to  soothe  Leona’s  concern,  yet  pursed  lips   &   frowned  brows  were  far  from  showing  relaxation.  Despite  how  selfish  it  could  sound,  Leona’s  obligation  was  for   &   with  her  people.  This  request  was  a  mere  favor  in  comparison,  one  she  could  decline  if  considered  appropriate.  Whether  she  would  reject  the  proposal  or  not,  the  ginger  let  her  weight  rest  at  ease  against  the  seat’s  back  she  decided  to  occupy.  Little  desire  she  owned  to  sit  after  own  initial  statement,  but  rushed  decisions  meant  mistakes  that  could  not  be  committed.  ❛  A  single  woman ———  It  can  be  arranged.  For  one  to  escape  less  resources  are  needed,  you  have  now  caught  my  attention.  ❜  Right  fingers  laid  the  sword  on  her  lap,  the  opposite  palm  holding  the  Shield  in  perfect  balance  with  the  floor.  ❛  Do  explain  your  cause   &   we  will  decide  if  it’s  worth  the  sacrifice.  ❜

“...” Gripping her throne’s arms like a dragon having to rise in order to defend her horde, the queen rose up to better examine the woman before her. Sunlight, very much like her own power. Her soul surged like a star, with the power of not just her, but that of another as well. Cara’s eyes glimmered--she recognized that kind of power. Could this one see souls as well?

“Oh, have I?” Cara was being coy, but her eyes were sharp as a knife--and her smirking lips were quick to move when Leona bade her speak. “...Tell me, have you ever heard of an object called the Watching Eye?” Cara folded her hands, moving around Leona and averting her eyes from Leona’s gaze; “It’s said to be a dangerous, lidless eye that is said to bewitch all creatures that come into its sight, man or no.”

A pause--she stopped, this time behind Leona. “We would have destroyed it ourselves--but I fear that I myself do not know enough about the creature to deal it any true damage. I would have left well enough alone, except its influence is hindering the prosperity of our neighboring nation, Pravalah. It’s in my vested interest to ensure that the problem goes away--quickly.” Eyes were trained on Leona. “I don’t need an army--just a small strike team. Among which, unique individuals are best suited.”

“I see,” Cara nodded in understanding, “Well…any last few questions for me?”

“Have you had contact with any other peoples or nations?” He asked simply.

“Well...” How did Cara say that she and the emperor of Pravalah had gone to war and that she had an opportunity to conquer Pravalah once and for all?

“....Let’s just say that this is not the first time we’ve encountered the Druchii’s ill influences. The nation just east of us--Pravalah? They’ve run into it as well. We had to...deal with the effects.”

“I must have dropped it somewhere…” He began to look all over his room and the outside hallway for it. The longer it took to find, the more he began to worry.

His private notebook was laying on the ground in a hallway, for anyone to find. Scribe did sign his name on it, so hopefully whoever found it was nice enough to give it back. It had personal notes, ideas, impressions of everyone he met in the castle. As well as those detailed sketches of a few individuals, including Idunne, Cara, the man who greeted him when he first arrived here, and the red dragon lady that drove the carriage here. Not to mention, notes about his family.

“Just calm down.”

Idunne’s voice changed, then--the tone was much more authoritative and far more commanding. She turned away, putting a hand up to her ear and saying, “Lyra? This is Idunne. I’d like you to search for a small notebook along the path between the cafeteria and the new scholar’s office. Yes, the one with the odd shirt and the strange spectacles. Just take care of it, would you?” A sigh escaped her, “Thank you.”

Turning back to Scribe, her businesswoman persona shed, and she was back to 'normal.’ “Now then,” she hummed, “Where were we? I’ll have Lyra get it back to us when she finds it, all right?”

Dearest of apologies for not being on much. Had to make an unexpected trip into NYC today to do a thing. Will be on tomorrow, promise. Until then, have a great night. <3

“You were saying something about me looking caged inside?”

“...I...I suppose so, yes...” she slowly nods, “...Come to think of it, my surname literally means “oldest flame” in old draconian. Hm...” she was only snapped out of her attentions a moment later--when he started to inquire about his mission.

“Ah--that. Well...I need some help on a battlefield. How do you feel about getting to show off a little?”

That giggle was cute. “Well, if you want to watch that’s fine. Just don’t touch anything.” He left the dining hall and moved back into his room.

Still a bit of a mess, notes all over the place, but on a large board were blueprints for the Lyridin containment units. “This is what I’m working on right now. Trying multiple different materials for the containers. Then the storage process. Condensing the substance into a liquid would help our storage capacity…” He patted  his pants and coat, looking for something. “Where is…? Oh, Idunne? Can I have my notebook back?”

“Hm? I didn’t swipe it,” Idunne blinks, “You...didn’t forget it somewhere, did you?” She looks around, “...”

They couldn’t have been pickpocketed right in the hall, could they?
