Red Tabby

Poem- tw: animal death mention

Last night a gray tabby slept beneath the comfort of my rear driver’s side tire.

Finding shield from the cold winter air

She must have slept soundly,

Smelling only asphalt and rubber.

The parking lot empty for Christmas,

Save for my mother old ride.

I didn’t have work.

I left early to escape what I willingly expected.

What i shouldn’t feel I ‘endure’

I too sought safety in an empty parking lot.

At 5:47 something soft crunches beneath the tire.

At 5:48 I cry to a red stain on pavement.

Something precious snuffed on the eve of salvation.

At 5:50 I leave for my parents.

When I return in the new year her stain is gone.

But I will always check beneath my tires.

Thinking only of you,

and the space you once held so dear.

I wonder if you slept well,

wonder if something so small could dream

wonder if another would’ve made the same mistake.

I dream of you sometimes,

where I would see something soft and warm,

Is suddenly red,

this year my grandmother’s cranberries taste like copper.

So I have some news...

We are making a feature film to conclude the Heartstopper screen adaptation, based on Heartstopper Volume 6 and the ‘Nick and Charlie’ novella. We are getting to tell the end of the story!!! I’m deeply relieved and so excited about this new creative venture. I’ve written the script and we’re hard at work already. I know you’ll have a lot of questions, and I’ll be able to talk about it more very soon, but for now let’s CELEBRATE! Heartstopper is getting its ending!!!!!! 🍂

This cover is one of my oldest art pieces I did for Solitaire (might be like 2015ish?) and this publisher (Spanish publisher Grupo Planeta) specifically asked if they could use it for the cover!! It made me very happy 🥹 One of the few times I felt happy to see my old art see the light of day 😅

Real question does Michael ever get the gold?

In my mind yes… not till his second Olympics tho which would be Pyeongchang when he’s 25. he might even place on the podium in more than one distance (bc there are three different distances he’d compete in as a short track skater). his first Olympics would be Sochi when he’s 21 and i reckon he gets a bronze?

i can genuinely see him being world class, ya know? he’s struggling (in a psychological way) during Solitaire but he’s clearly got the drive and talent to make it… if he gets himself into a better mental place (and gets out of school so he can focus properly haha)
