Do not tell me that Thanatos hates humanity,
for how is death to hate us if He is there to greet us at the end
Do not tell me that Thanatos hates humanity,
for how is death to hate us if He stays with our bones as they decay
Do not tell me that Thanatos hates humanity,
for how is death to hate us when He holds us in our grief
Homeric-Style Hymn To Thanatos
Now I shall sing of a God, Black-winged and white-skinned, the God of Gentle Death. Thanatos, son of immortal Night and twin of Sleep, He who was nursed on the right arm of ever-dark Night. Blessed is the Healer of those who cannot be healed, Praised be the God who cannot be held by chains. Though his heart remains cold to the whims of man, I shall sing, For there is not a day that goes by where he does not guide our souls Through the dark blue cloud of Death. He, the bearer of the inverted torch. He who holds what he has grasped, Be it of man or of the Heavens. He who is hateful to even those which death cannot touch. Thanatos, the gentle Death that rules over all, for everything has to die when it’s time comes. He who lulls us into eternal slumber and guides our souls to rest in the realm below. No one can escape him, no one could dare. Death takes what the Fates decree Regardless of age, gender, wealth, or sin. Death, who was sent by the King of the Gods to right an offense, Sent to the halls of Korinth, to the palace of King Sisyphus. The King welcomed him with Xenia, opened his home to the God then Tricked him. He followed Gentle Death down into Tartarus to be chained at Zeus’ will, but He tricked the God as he was being chained up, only to turn The chains on Death and imprison Him in Tartarus forever more. Held against his will was he, forced to remain idle in his captivity, Unable to reap souls, people the world over ceased to succumb to their end. That is, until the wrath of the God of War peaked, for his battles were fought But none could die, and in his rage he searched for the cause. He found Bound Death in the pits And freed him so that his wars could persist with reason. Once again did Death attempt to wrangle the slippery king, this time bringing him In front of the rulers of the dead themselves. If the snake managed to escape once again, Well, he had done his part for the King of the Gods. And so I have sung the praises of the God of Gentle Death, May all find comfort in his hold and rest in peaceful slumber.

dear thanatos,
i've known many family, friends, and coworkers
who've passed away this year
and the last
and the year before
and i know you are gentle with them always
but i ask that you guide those who've lost their light recently
into the safe arms of comfort and rest
where their families will know they are okay
and well and no longer in pain.
thank you. 🖤
your teeth are a gift from god and you can sink them into other people's flesh btw
real question. does anyone else leave weed as an offering for their deities? mine love it. especially aphrodite.
