hey Electra, has your style changed since you left?

Uh… yeah, I guess you could say that.

My uncle Patrick is exactly what you’d expect a former punk rocker and current tattoo artist to be style-wise, and my uncle Chris works in this amazing upscale vintage and second-hand retail store that also features work from local designers and stuff like that, plus didn’t tell me what to wear, which was new, I guess. Mom had a pretty strict influence on what I was and wasn’t allowed to wear, but my uncles let me do what I want, so I did.

It’s not like I got rid of all my old stuff or anything, but Uncle Patrick kind of helped me get close to my Da through old pictures and recordings of their band that Mom never really let me go through, and I guess I picked up a bit of his old aesthetic, amongst other stuff.

Chicago? I used to visit in the summers sometimes, but… not really, no. My mom kind of tried to cut me off from my uncles, and even then it’s not like I could just leave her, not and expect the house to be in any semblance of order when I got back.

It was nice, though, yeah. To get away, and to spend time with my uncles.

Yeah, I’d been wanting to before but mom said no, whereas at my uncles’s not only did they think it was a great idea, but I got it done free because the tattoo parlor Uncle Patrick works at has a piercing shop basically attached to it.

The hair… it’s kind of weird, still. The first thing I did when I got there was cut it all off and dye it back to my natural colour which is basically this, but I still do doubletakes in the mirror from time to time.
