i’m kind of amazed by lincoln’s 180 post season two. the first thing we learn about lincoln is his passion for helping people, for teaching them how extraordinary they are - especially the inhumans. he’s instrumental in skye’s progress towards acceptance, & it’s probably his greatest gift. you can imagine he’s done that same thing for countless newly-transitioned inhumans.

in the season preview, lincoln calls it a curse, tells skye to let their heritage die. it’s a testament to just how much it affected him to know he’d been lied to all these years by jiaying and gordon. it’s changed his perception of himself, the way he sees the world. it’s compromised his ability to trust people, especially skye and SHIELD who, at the end of the day, facilitated that betrayal. it’s a testament to just how important they were to him. they told him the same thing - that he was incredible, amazing, that his abilities were a gift. and if they were liars (and they were, about a lot of things), they lied about that too.

lincoln’s perception of himself has pretty much crumbled, and the worst is that he’s lost that capacity to help people. ultimately that’s what’ll put him into SHIELD in the end, i think. he’ll find that drive again.

it’s good to see skye absorbed in her work - if only for the worry she’d crumble without its distraction. lincoln doesn’t doubt skye’s strength; only questions whether she’s giving herself the time she needs for emotional recovery. god knows he’s been struggling.
