"Heir to the company?" she asked, cocking a brow. She had truly been told nothing of the child, just to find her—Amber must have been high off her ass when she gave Emma this assignment, but that was a given.
"So, what you’re saying is I am safe?" she continued with a cocky grin, never one to be modest about her own intellect.
"Well, sort of… no-one was officially named as heir, but the kid was the one who was supposed to get it." He shrugged slightly. He’d assumed this woman would already be aware of the reason behind Shilo Wallace’s significance, which was why he openly spoke of it. "But yeah, you’re safe—unless you do something stupid or something."
"Funny, I would have never pegged Carmela as being the eldest Largo," she said, looking him up and down. "You must be, correct? So... why did the company go to her?"
"You'll have to excuse me," she said. "While it's highly unlikely I'll say something stupid, I'm ignorant of how your people function. I'm not exactly from around here." When you're job was finding people, it was easy knowing where to go to not be found yourself.
