Illustrations for @issue_mag interview with director Yorgos Lanthimos on his new film, The Lobster.
Except from a song about life after death, where yellow flowers bloom out of the eye sockets of a cow skull. This was made of beads and sequins and velvet in a garage with bad lighting for a very dear friend who I adore. It took a really long time.

Have you met Carol?
Another painting about the moon on a rainy day.
"Time is. Time was. Time continues to be. The death and orgasm in each other's embrace. The dreamer awakening inside of one another. From mythology to mathematics to the broadest reach of mysticism, we have stood in awe of time and wrestled with its expression. We trace its shape in symbols, sing its song in lines and rhythm into our bodies, passing them genetically from generation to generation to leave something behind..." Jane Anne Thomas exploring the mythic face of time for @tidalmag. Our first collab in print. 💙

Crow
Here is a poem about the story of the Snake Charmer, the Moon and the Crow. Goodbye Old Year! Happy New Year! Shed your old skins, make magic! If snake woman charms a snake and the snake charms the woman together they shed their skins and become bare and new. The snake can live within the veins and arteries of the woman unnoticed, besides the sound of a tiny hiss, like air escaping between the gap in her teeth. Every night the moon rises even when she is veiled in the great shadow of earth she still rises, silently seeing, the golden thread of feelings intertwined with hers waxing and waning, tides in and out, light glittering on waves. Have you felt the dew from moon's tears rolling down your cheek? Have you felt the rumble of her belly laugh, the quake of her orgasm? Have you overheard her whispered love song, duet with morning birds? Skin is gone now, bones bare, bleached by sun and bones crushed to dust and wind blew dust far and wide, high and low and touched light, poetic at moments. Dust kissed dust, bull stamped in it, heavy hoofed. Dogs rolled in it, soaked deep into furry spines mixed with warmth of the sunshine. Crow is the flying alchemist. In between his shoulder and his shadow light bounces off the green on his black wing his gaze turns it into a golden moment, clutching between his talons he offers it up to the sky. Sending so much love to you! Elena December 27, 2015
