Naveen was nothing short of beaming as he listened to Elena’s response. “I, Naveen Edmonds of Miami, also known as Nav, your baby daddy, have never been so happy to hear you talk so much.” He laughed, moving his free hand to tangle into her dark hair as he pressed his lips to hers. Probably much to Elena’s disdain, Nav pulled away, the fingers that were once on her waist intertwining with hers. “Come with me, Princess. I want to show you something.” Before she could protest or whine about how she didn’t want to do anything but go to bed, Naveen led her across their spacious room and out onto the balcony that overlooked the expansive garden. It was the only place on the entire palace grounds that wasn’t directly observed by a guard – or it was for the next fifteen minutes, at least.
Turning back to his girl, Naveen cupped her cheek with his free hand. “Your trust is something I never thought I would earn back. And hearing you finally say that you love me and put all of your trust in me has made me the happiest man on the face of this planet. You have made me the happiest man on the face of this planet.
“I never thought I would meet someone so strong and determined, yet so soft and empathetic – let alone someone with all those qualities who truly, genuinely cared about me, in spite of my shortcomings and occasional arrogance.
“Living without your warmth, your love, and your bossy ways was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. And I never want to live in such darkness again. That’s why I promise to never let anything, especially my own idiotic self, come between us ever again. That’s why I promise to bring you ice cream at any hour of the night. That’s why I promise to support you in everything you do – from leading this country to raising our son. That’s also why I want to lift the guilt of being dishonest to your country off of your shoulders. Because your people deserve to see you looking as radiant and beautiful as ever tomorrow, and every day after that.” Releasing Elena from his embrace, Naveen knelt down on one knee before her, pulling a velvet ring box from his pants pocket.
“Title Heiress Princess Elena Isabel Castillo Flores Avalor the future Queen of Avalor and future mother of the Title Heir Prince Royce Francisco Castillo Flores Edmonds Avalor also known as El, my baby mama, will you marry me? For real this time?”
Elena kept trying to butt in and say that she was feeling the same and that she loved him and wanted to be there for him and yada yada yada, but when she realized what he was doing--what he was asking she was absolutely speechless. “For real?” She squeaked out. “For real, for real?” She couldn’t help but get clarification. This was completely unexpected and honestly something she hadn’t put much thought into. She knew they were fake married and she knew they were having a baby, but she couldn’t help but feel that this happiness was fleeting. All these pieces were coming together and the happiness was overwhelming. “Yes.” She spoke quietly. “Yes.” She repeated, a smile forming broadly on her face. Elena felt secure in that moment. Secure in her future--in theirs.
