“Listen to me. Just calm down. Deep breaths.”

The panic attack had come from nowhere. Usually Enjolras was great at public speaking but right now he just couldn’t. He gripped onto Coomnbeferre’s shoulders tightly, breathing heavily. “I have...I have to get on stage.” He panted. “I have to give my speech.”

“They say I’m in here because I’m crazy, I think I’m crazy because I’m in here.” ((from enjolras))

“Who said you’re crazy?” Combeferre frowned, “Look, Enj, I don’t think you should be here either… but I think this may be a little too far out of my jurisdiction to do much about it..”

Enjolras took the handkerchief, wiping his eyes gently and nodding.  “Thank you.” he said quietly.  “Just...just get me away from here now Ferre. I’m begging you. I can’t stay any longer.”

“They say I’m in here because I’m crazy, I think I’m crazy because I’m in here.” ((from enjolras))

“Who said you’re crazy?” Combeferre frowned, “Look, Enj, I don’t think you should be here either… but I think this may be a little too far out of my jurisdiction to do much about it..”

The woman nodded. It was a few hours before Enjolras was led down, still dressed in his hospital gown and trembling. “Ferre…Ferre what’s going on? They just took me down here.” He had tears in his eyes. “They did it again.”

When Combeferre was finally able to see Enjolras, he pulled him into a hug. “Hey… hey, you’re okay. I’m sorry - I couldn’t stop it, but you’re being released… I’ve managed to fix it that much.” He pulled back slightly, “I’ll explain everything when we’re home, don’t worry, for now… come with me. I’ll see about getting you something to wear and we’ll make sure everything’s finalised.”

Enjolras returned the kiss, breathing shakily. “I can go home?” He asked in astonishment, studying Combeferre carefully. ‘You promise that this isn’t a trick? I can really go back?”

“Well, that’s perfect.” he laughed softly. “Most call me Enjolras, so you can call me that if you want.”

[combeferre-the-mothman]

“Alright, Enjolras then,” Ferre nodded with a soft smile.

“Thank you.” he smiled. “Come on Gabriel, get out of that cage.”

“Who said you’re crazy?” Combeferre frowned, “Look, Enj, I don’t think you should be here either… but I think this may be a little too far out of my jurisdiction to do much about it..”

Enjolras sighed softly, looking down. He hesitated before pulling off the gag and untying him. “It’s okay, you’re safe with me.” he repeated. “I want to help you, I swear.”

“I-I want to go home,” Ferre trembled slightly, “Please…I need to go home.”

“I’m sorry.” He said quietly. “I don’t even know where your home is, but I promise I will get you back when I can. Let me help heal you though.”

Ferre nodded sadly, “O-Okay…” he agreed, “I trust you.”

“Thank you.” He smiled gratefully. “My name is Gabriel, what’s yours?”

“Who said you’re crazy?” Combeferre frowned, “Look, Enj, I don’t think you should be here either… but I think this may be a little too far out of my jurisdiction to do much about it..”

“We can’t let anyone in during treatment I’m afraid and by the time I t’s. done he’ll be ready to go. I’m going to get it done as quickly as possible.” The doctor replied, sighing heavily. “Just stay with me while I get the work. done.”

“Could you at least ensure that no harm is coming to him?” Combeferre requested, “He expressed concerns earlier is all… and I am grateful for your help, I really am, and I’ll stay here if need be - but I just want to make sure that he is alright; that’s all.”

“It’s too late, he’s being treated right now.” She replied, sighing heavily. “Please, we will do our best for him. Just stay patient, alright? He’ll be out soon.”

She looked up at the clock and sighed heavily. “I apologise, his treatment has been brought forward and it’s already underway. I can assure you that this is the last treatment he will receive though.”

Combeferre took a deep breath, there wasn’t much he could do other than to wait in that case. “I have your word that he will be released tonight?” He confirmed. “I’m sure you won’t mind my presence until then, given the circumstances especially, I want to personally see to it that he is released into my care and that he is unharmed.”

“You have my word.” She nodded. “And you can wait in my office, okay? I’ll make sure everything is sorted out and you can watch every second if you wish to. You’ll be safe and so will he.”

Combeferre was scared, he couldn’t see much without his glasses but he could feel himself trapped in a metal cage with his hands bound behind his back and something shoved in his mouth. He was pulled out by his hair and pushed onto a stage where he heard numbers being called out like bidding.

Enjolras felt utterly sickened there, but he knew that he needed to feed on someone and at least he could give someone a good life. A hood over his head, he bid on the person who looked in most need of help. Paying a ridiculous sum he walked to the buyer’s corner to collect the man, keeping his identity hidden.

Ferre was put in and cage and loaded into his new owner’s car. He sobbed softly; he just wanted to go home and he feared now he would never be able to do so.

Enjolras drove quickly. As soon as he could he opened the car and unlocked the cage. He pulled down his head, revealing his curls and severe looking face. But at that moment it was gentle. “It’s okay, I won’t hurt you.” he said softly. “I’m not like the others.”

She was silent for a moment, her expression softening as she sighed heavily. “We really try the best for our patients, but we are struggling.” The doctor started softly. “Our funding has been cut. His father is donating a large sum every day we keep him here. We have to carry on with the treatment and do our best or we will close.”

Combeferre gave an understanding nod, “I understand, but surely what is right for the patient is what must come first, even in this situation. Do you see now how Enjolras’ father is trying to keep control over him? Essentially paying to have his son kept here receiving treatments that he doesn’t require, or consent to. I understand that Enjolras’ aren’t the only hands that are tied here, but surely you must put the patient well-being first. This isn’t going to help him, if anything it’s going to worsen his mental condition and in all likeliness, his quality of life.”

She sighed heavily, looking at her hands. “I can get him out of here by tonight.” She said quietly. “No earlier, I have to go through all the paperwork and try to figure out something else for our funding.”
