❛ but why ? ❜ the question comes with a dip in el's eyebrows. her head shakes as she sits closer to her friend & reaches out for the other girl's hand but stops herself before getting too close. she sighs. ❛ is it because of what happened to billy ? ❜ she swallows after asking the question. maybe it was better not to bring him up, but the words have already come out, & there's no taking them back. however as curious as she is to understand, she needs to know the topic around him might be difficult for max. death isn't easy.

she reaches again for the hand, with no hesitation, as her fingers lace through the other girl's fingers. she looks at max & offers a modest grin. ❛ you are not to blame for what happened. ❜ she whispers as she gives her hand a squeeze. but she doesn't know what else she should say. she's never comforted someone like this before, but el knows she cares about the redhead. would that be enough ? she doesn't ask; instead, she chews on her lower lip as her eyes go to the nearby wall. max's bedroom is different, the air feels colder, & the color feels faded.

the child has spent more days wandering in the woods than in the outside world. she doesn't know how to track how much time has passed, but she's seen the blue skies turn to grey skies. the ground has also changed from brown to white, & days feel shorter. not only that, she doesn't know what causes these changes to occur. maybe it shouldn't concern her. however, on this day, she notices something different in the woods. the air is moderately warmer, & along her usual path lies a set of tracks. she has memorized the prints made by the man in the house, but these tracks aren't the same.

kneeling beside one of them, she places a hand inside of it. ❛ big. ❜ she mumbles to herself before her head shoots upward. ordinarily, during the daytime, there is no one in the woods except for her, but the snapping of tree branches catches her attention. she swallows & slowly stands. she can feel her heart as it pounds against her chest, & gradually she brings a trembling hand up as if to strike. ❛ st- stay ah - away. ❜

01. What made you pick up this character?

she's a girl trying to find and understand herself in a world where she doesn't feel like she belongs. something about that narrative spoke to me, but i was extremely hesitant to write her. i felt like i wouldn't be able to do her character justice, but then i remembered how i wanted to tell her story on a deeper level than what the d.uffers gave us. plus, she is a character that i feel is easily misunderstood due to everything she has been through and the things that often get pushed on her by the fandom.

02. How did you get into this franchise/fandom?

i started watching back when the show aired ! i have always enjoyed sci-fi things and the 80s vibe made it different from the typical futuristic sci-fi that i was used to. i quickly fell in love with the fantasy elements brought in from dnd and the small-town quirks that went with the flow of everything. however, i only joined the fandom, on tumblr rp at least, in jan. of this year.

03. What’s the best thing about the show/series/books/comics/etc.?

i sort of answered this above, but i'll add to it and talk about how i love that everything in the show has a reason. say whatever you want about the d.uffers, they do make sure things connect in some way. while their writing isn't the best, there are things that can be said for their ability to story tell and connect the story from start to finish. now, my answer to this might change after season 5, but it might not.

08. What’s the worst thing about the canon you are writing?

m.ileven. i hate how it was pushed on us, but i get why it was, but that's a conversation for another time. when you view the ship as it is, it becomes difficult to watch because there are hints as to how it isn't healthy for either party. i hope that by season 5, we see an end to it, and the two end up as strictly platonic. i firmly feel they are platonic soulmates, and while they taught one another a lot about relationships, they aren't meant to be in a relationship together.

a fun reminder for the dash. el's bursts of anger are a result of her trauma. this doesn't make it good, instead, it explains why she acts out and is by no means a justification for her actions. for example, her hitting angela ? out of line. yes, angela bullied her, but that was no reason for el to physically harm her.

wildly unpopular opinion here, but if you don't think the eddie book will be good simply because the love interest is a woman, you could save everyone the trouble and just admit you don't like women. it would be a lot easier than resorting to calling the character a mary-sue or self-insert.
