I think you’d be jealous. [He says with a slight smirk, which falls almost immediately afterward. His expression becomes very serious, eyes hard] I’m afraid not. I wouldn’t joke about Charlotte. [He nearly spits out her name, as it tastes like poison on his tongue now]
Annoyed is the more appropriate word. [she grits her teeth together, straightening up and looking at him with a hard glare] So for one thousand years she was alive and you had no idea? And for some reason she felt it necessary to come here.
Apparently I wasn’t all that important to her even after our years of marriage. [He focuses on his cuffs, unwilling to meet her eyes, trying to remain steely calm] She’s not a vampire. I don’t know what she is, and I no longer care. She’s not my Charlotte, that is clear enough. [His jaw tightens, body stiff] She’s Harriet’s, and I don’t know why they’re still here.
Not a vampire? …shouldn’t be that hard to kill her then. [she says quickly, staring at Elijah. she is intrigued by what her look-a-like could possibly be, but Katherine doesn’t want to take the time to figure it out. since it would be almost impossible to kill Elena without repercussions, Charlotte would have to do] Harriet… and Charlotte? [she rolls her eyes with an amused grin] Elijah, you could so easily take care of them both.
She’s not a vampire, but she has lived an immortal life for all these years. I don’t yet know what that means.
Your confidence in me is appreciated, but I have no real desire to kill them. I simply want out of this drama entirely. It has never really suited me, this life of entanglements and affairs.
Then I’m sure you don’t mind if I take the initiative. Three of us is two too many running around. [she smiles sarcastically, hating the sound of this Charlotte and what she might be. if she wasn’t a vampire, then there would be little she could do to stop Katherine]
[A part of him wants to stop her, but that part has grown too small and bitter. A larger part of him would be satisfied, even triumphant to see Katherine kill the shell of his ex-wife…a part that would probably weigh itself down with guilt after, but what did it matter now?] I don’t mind at all. You have my blessing, in fact.
Good. I’ll make sure to bring you her head on a platter. [she grins maliciously at him before turning and stepping towards the door] I’ll see you then, Elijah.
You can just send me a postcard. [He sighs softly] Goodbye, Katerina. Don't get yourself in too much trouble.
