@muses-of-the-multiverse
Vipeks isn’t sure what exactly happened, other than the fact they had pulled their ship in to investigate a rift, and next thing they know they were pulled in and spit back out somewhere new. They land, and step out to take a look around. Their Ghost, Ithiks, bobs in circles around their head. “I dunno, Vi, I think we’re lost.”
“Tell me something I don’t know.” The Guardian mutters, rolling their four eyes. They start to walk until they spot... well, that must be a human, right? They assume they’ve been put back on their Earth. “Excuse me,” they speak up in mis-pronounced English. “Can you tell me where I am? My GPS isn’t working.”
“Alright.” Vipeks shrugs, and stands back to watch with bored eyes as the arc grenade dissipates. They think he would definitely be a Hunter if he were a Guardian.
They cross their four arms, the claws on one foot digging into the ground. Vipeks doesn’t want to butt into a fight that isn’t theirs, but oh how they hate standing by.
The dragon charges at Remyis while he spins the pistols in hand. He then aims them at the dragon just as they get close enough, and unleashes a torrent of bullets on them. The dragon is knocked back again, before they take off.
“If I see you doing something like this again, I’m gonna make you my pet!” Remyis calls out to it as it flies away. He then turns back to Vipeks. “Well, that wasn’t too ba-” He freezes as he sees something behind Vipeks. A figure with white wings, and wearing a black robe with golden trims on it stands behind Vipeks.
“I am not happy to see yet another interloper in our world.” The figure says.
“Definitely easier to deal with than I had been expecting.” They reply, crossing their arms. “Those hand cannons have more firepower than I thought-“
Vipeks turns around to look, and they quirk a brow. If they’re at all off put, they don’t show it, but the Titan’s anything but expressive. Their four eyes narrow, and their Ghost vanishes into thin air for her own safety. Its practically a rule among Guardians: always have your Ghost hide when facing someone or something new until the threat has been adequately gauged.
“Good thing I’ll be going home as soon as I figure out how, then.” They reply flatly. “Trust me, I don’t wanna be sticking around here when I’ve got my own business back home to handle.”

“Gods and dragons are nothing new.” Vipeks jokes, eyeing the concoction that’s been handed to them. They stare at it for a moment, then quietly take a canister from their belt. They open it up, then pour the liquid into the canister before offering the beaker back. “I’m okay right now, so I’ll hang onto this for later.. er, thanks.”
“I guess I wouldn’t mind if you look at my ship, but I can promise you that you won’t find too much off about it.” They shrug
Remyis nods. “Thank you. If you don’t mind, please lead the way.” He says to Vipeks ready to follow them.
“Sure.” They turn to start walking, Ithiks floating over their shoulder. They draw and cock their rifle as they go, just in case its needed. As said, it wouldn’t take them long at all to reach the ship. It’s a strange thing as far as shape goes, a bit front-heavy with twin tails for the thrusters. “Well, here we go.”
As they arrive, a large green dragon stands over it, and roars. It seems like the dragon has claimed it for themselves.
“Ay yay ya.” Remyis says stepping forward. “I kick this guy’s butt twice a week for this sort of nonsense, but they don’t seem to listen.” He says pulling out two pistols. “Well, this is good practice with these bad boys I guess.” He finishes with.
“Hand cannons?” Vipeks sounds surprised, unfamiliar with the word ‘pistol.’ They lift a hand, and a ball of electricity manifests there. “What about a grenade? Or... well, my super could do the trick...”
They take a step back, eyeing the dragon. “Or a good machine gun.”

“That’s... a broad question.” They clear their throat, the language a struggle for chords meant to speak Eliksni. “Relative to where we are. But... I guess in your case, yeah, it would be. See, my ship, it was pulled into a rift, and I was spat out here, so... my home could be anywhere. If anything I’m lucky I wasn’t dropped in the middle of empty space.”
“Ah, then you’re technically a Milletian too. Milletians are a people who are from beyond the stars. Though you don’t have the immortality that most Milletians would.” Remyis says, as he pulls out some beakers, and begins mixing the herbs and such in them. “So, where is your ship exactly? What does it look like? Does it need repairs?” He asks, while still making stuff with the beakers.
Vipeks and the Ghost look at one another, then back at Remyis. Ithiks begins to laugh, and Vipeks hushes her before they say anything.
“Sorry about her... uh. Actually, as far as anyone’s concerned... I am immortal, functionally. My ship is back that way,” they gesture the way they came from. “It’s in fine shape, I do the repairs myself, but uh. Thank you, for the offer.” They cock their head to watch his work with the beakers, four eyes blinking out of sync.

The Guardian sighs. A deep, guttural sound from their inhuman throat. “Alright, so... definitely not home.” They pull their green cloak around themself almost like a blanket. “Who are you? If I can ask.”
“I’m Remyis. I’m a Milletian who lives here on Erinn. I was actually gathering some herbs. Speaking of which, one sec.” He says, before bending down into the soft grass and pulling out an herb of some kind. “Okay, last one I needed.” He says, putting it in...where did he put it? It looks like it just disappeared behind his back.
“I don’t think I’ve hesdd the term Milletian before,” Vipeks replies. “But.. that aside, nice to meet you. I’m Vipeks, and this,” they gesture to the blue-eyed purple orb circling their head. “Is Ithiks.” They almost want to ask about where ir went, but they’ve gotten used to the inexplicable by now. “I don’t suppose you know where Earth is?”

Devrim smiled, glad his new friend agreed. Titan armor was just… something else. “Well, give me a few days and I should have some glimmerprints of the designs for your Ghost to replicate with the materials you’ve found.”
The rifleman flicked open a screen on his tablet where he had been busy sculpting armor blueprints for Guardian’s Ghosts to utilize. He had to admit, he was excited to get to testing out this new armor! Well, having Vipeks test it out, anyways.
“In the mean time, I think your little friend has found a few good busts around here.” he nodded to the Ghost who he thought looked a little too excited to be going through his mission logs. “And if you need a hand out there- or spare ether, let me know. I’ll see if my Fallen friends can help you out.”
“Oh, yeah, she sure has.” Vipeks glances to their Ghost, who turns to bumble back to them. They hold out one hand, and Ithiks comes to settle in it with a tilt of her shell. “I’m looking forwards to working with you, Mr. Kay.” They nod, and brace a set of hands on their knees while they stand. They finish up their tea, so they can set the cup down. With one last nod to the sniper, they leave to return to fieldwork.
When the time for testing the armor had come, Vipeks had eagerly returned to the church to check out the prints, which Ithiks was quick to begin replicating. They stand aside while she does, both sets of arms crossed over their torso, their old chestplate set aside for now. While they’re waiting, they glance to Devrim.
“It’s already looking really good, if you ask me. I just need to go over what all we’re doing to test it, to make sure I have this right. Go to Firebase Hades, run a lost sector, clear out some cabal, see how much damage this can take, right? And how well it protects against said damage.” They raise one hand to scratch the back of their neck. “I thought it might be made easier if I can have Ithiks stream what she’s seeing, so you can connect and note any changes you’d like to make while I’m working.”
I figured out (vaguely) how to animate so here’s a Vipeks gif I made for the fun of it
devrimsperch
“Oh yes! That’s exactly what I was talking about! I figure that would slip around some though, so…” he asked for the pad to sketch a little extra strap between the arms, connecting the front and back so it couldn’t slide or twist with frequent movement. “…That strap would need to be a more comfortable padded one, of course.”
Devrim lay the pad on the table and pulled his own chair up, settling back down. “Any other concerns? Titans in the past have told me my designs for their armor are… sometimes a little impractical. I’m more of a Hunter and Warlock outfitter it seems!” he laughed, shrugging, before taking a sip of his tea.
The Titan hands the pad back to Devrim when he asks for it, tilting their head a little to watch him sketch. They nod slowly, jaw set in thought. “I think that would work fine. If you want to put together a prototype I could test it, I usually do my Guardian work near here and I don’t live far from Trostland. I could have it tested and back to you in a day.”
“Other than that I can’t really think of anything off about the design, the straps would be enough to keep the plate in place. Adjustable straps would probably be necessary but that’s relatively obvious.” They blink as Devrim sips his tea, glancing down to their own. They almost forgot about it. A secondary hand reaches to pick up the mug, passing it up to a primary hand before they dare take a sip. They’re not sure what they think of it. It’s far different from Ether, that’s for sure, but not necessarily bad.
“Yeah, that’s fair. Hunter and Warlock gear is a little easier to design, I’d think. They don’t have a bunch of bulk to work with, and making big armor look good and be practical is a chore. There’s some Titan armor sets that just...” They wave another hand, trying to find the right words. “Astound me. It’s incredible what people can get away with.” They laugh as well, taking another small sip of their tea.
eliksniguardian:
“You’re probably right, there. I’m not an anatomy expert, either, my job is to punch things and negotiate between Eliksni and Guardians.” They laugh just a little at their own joke, craning their neck to watch Devrim draw. They’ve always liked watching humans, exos, awoken, etc. write, it’s fascinating how five-digit hands work. “But either way, I’m glad to lend a hand…or several.”
Vipeks is startled as well when the kettle whistles, eyes widening as they jump a little look towards it. They didn’t know the kettle would make that noise, they’re a little embarrassed that it startled them.
“Clip into the belt…? It could work, but unless I’m picturing it wrong it sounds a little impractical. Unless…” they hesitate, glancing at the tablet then back to Devrim. “Would it be okay if I draw on this? I won’t go over your sketches, but I want to show you what I’m picturing.” They twiddle their claws nervously, watching Devrim get the tea set to steep while they wait for an answer.
“Be my guest, we may not be thinking of the same thing.” Devrim nodded to the tablet, approving Vipeks’ request. He settled against the wall as he waited for the tea to steep.
“Negotiating and punching huh… sounds about what I’m up to on a daily basis. The clans around here seem to fight amongst each other. Then there’s the Guardans who come blazing through, causing trouble where there needn’t be.” he rolled his eyes.
“They seem to think I’m in danger or something.” he shifted to test pour some tea, humming in approval and filling both cups. He strode back to his visitor and set the hot mug on the table beside them.
“I’d wait a little bit. My Eliksni guests in the past have found it’s easier to drink when it isn’t too hot.”
Vipeks nods and chatters a quiet thanks before they pick up the tablet and pen, opening up a blank tab to draw on without going over Devrim's work. They begin to sketch carefully, though they're no artist.
"You're telling me... I might be a little biased, but, well, other Guardians have a habit of sticking their snouts where they don't belong. It's helped, sure, but it's definitely caused its issues too." They shrug, eyes narrowing as they focus on a detail. "Perched up here the only real danger you're in is the danger of this old building collapsing. And retaliation if you fire a shot, but you know."
They look down at the mug placed beside them and lean down to sniff at it curiously, like a cat inspecting a new piece of furniture, before they straighten their posture once more. "It makes sense. As far as I'm aware, Ether is normally cold. Significantly colder than Earth's atmosphere, anyways. Warm drinks would wind up feeling hot, hot drinks would feel scalding, so on and so forth."
Vipeks pauses their sketching then to show Devrim what they've drawn. A simple four-armed figure with a chestplate, then a more detailed drawing of said chestplate. There's no holes for arms, but slots in the sides instead for arms to fit. The chestplate itself is designed to be pulled over the head, with closed hooks to attach it to a belt so it stays on. No additional pieces to be clamped into place, just the plate then the hooks. "This is what came to mind when you mentioned a plate that attaches to a belt. Simple, but practical."
eliksniguardian:
“Well, I guess wouldn’t know, I’m no Servitor nor Archon, but Ether’s supposed to have everything any Eliksni would need to be healthy. But there’s no harm in trying out other things… I guess anyone would get tired of Ether after it’s all they’ve had their entire life. I-” they puff, trying to figure out how to articulate what they’re wanting to say. “What I mean is Eliksni might be able to have human food, but it won’t do much to boost their health like Ether will. The dependency on Ether is sad, but no alternative has worked out so far.”
They drum one set of claws against their thigh, the claws tapping against their greaves lightly. They watch curiously as Devrim goes about putting the kettle on, carefully keeping track of what he does. If they wind up liking this tea, maybe they could make it at home to see what their adoptive siblings think of it.
When he pulls up the datapad they cock their head to one side slightly, making their curiosity evident. This guy had actually put thought into armor for Eliksni, come up with designs. Vipeks hasn’t ever met a human so invested in helping the Eliksni, but… it’s a nice change all the same. If they could, they would smile. Unfortunately, Eliksni facial structure doesn’t allow for an actual smile, only the baring of needle-sharp teeth and a squint of the eyes.
“It looks fine to me, I’ll be honest. The biggest comfort issue I can see might be the secondary arms, see,” they pause to gesture to their own gear “Eliksni often wear half-plates instead of full plates because of our secondary arms. It makes putting a full plate on a little challenging unless we can put it on like a human would put on a jacket. Even that’s a little awkward, with how our secondary arms are set closer to our spine than the primary set.”
The drumming of their claws stops, and they lean in a little to get a better look. “I’m not saying full plate isn’t possible, just a challenge to make functional and comfortable. If you could…” Another thoughtful pause. “If you could extend the holes for primary arms to the back, and then add a piece to clip into place between the sets of arms once the armor’s on, that would work out well. Comfortable and easy to wear. Does that make sense? I can try drawing it out if what I said doesn’t make sense, but…I’m definitely no artist.”
“Ah, I see what you mean- I should have gotten a snap of Ma’ab from behind then. Hm- Well I can certainly connect something between the arms. You’ll need protection from behind. I can imagine a good shot would render your secondary arms useless.” Devrim muttered, taking the pad with a nod and activating the hard-light pen to add to his sketches.
“It’s nice to have someone give me some pointers, to be honest.” he smiled up at the titan. They seemed just as pleased as he did. Devrim relaxed a bit, before being startled by his kettle whistling.
“Oh, let me just-” the chair scrapped across the dirty floor as he abandoned it for his water. While messing about with his kettle, to get the tea in to steep, he prattled on. “Another way to attach a full plate- would be to have it clip into your belt, and secure it a little higher up the waist, under your secondary arms. We’d have to see how practical that actually is though…”
"You're probably right, there. I'm not an anatomy expert, either, my job is to punch things and negotiate between Eliksni and Guardians." They laugh just a little at their own joke, craning their neck to watch Devrim draw. They've always liked watching humans, exos, awoken, etc. write, it's fascinating how five-digit hands work. They twiddle their claws nervously, watching Devrim get the tea set to steep while they wait for an answer.
eliksniguardian:
Still surprised by Devrim’s hospitality, further so by direct offers to accomodate them as far as gear goes. Nobody’s ever this nice to the Titan, they aren’t entirely sure how to respond. They glance to Ithiks, who’s busied herself with cataloging and organizing the bounties the two were given, before Vipeks makes their way to sit down as they had been prompted.
“Er….Sure, I can help. I don’t have much else to be doing, and I’m pretty sure you’re the first human that hasn’t been begrudging in showing kindness, or stared me down like I’m about to take someone’s arm off, so….” They shrug their shoulders, the lower set of arms mimicking the action. “I’d rather be here than the Tower and the City by a long shot.”
Vipeks shifts to get more comfortable, and they pull their mouthpiece off to breathe some fresh air, and allow themself to speak a little more clearly as opposed to muffled. It was great having a helmet they could simply detach a piece from, rather than take the whole helmet off.
“I don’t think I’ve had tea before.” Vipeks eventually adds in, blinking one eye after another. “Not that I can remember, anyways. Usually I stick to Ether reserves because… well, I don’t know how to cook. Or if Eliksni can even have human food.”
Devrim assumed as much about the Guardian, nodding in agreement to Vipeks’ preferences as he set his kettle on the hotplate to boil. He unbuckled his pack and slipped it off his shoulders to rummage around for a tin of tea made from local flora that his extraterrestrial visitors seemed to like.
“Ah, you should stop by more often then! I don’t get many visitors, I do like to treat the few I get. I may not be as good a cook as my husband, but I know how to fire-roast a buck.” He smiled. “Ether can only do so much for you- I’m aware how bold that is coming from someone who’s nothing close to being an Eliksni, but I’ve picked up a few things from my neighbors.” added the rifleman as he set aside his tin.
Devrim moved back to his bag to grab another datapad. This one was a little more worn, well used. He flicked it on and pulled up some armor designs. The first few on the screen were clearly for those of his stature, but he opened a sketch of a design that looked like it belonged on an Eliksni, along with a photo of a Marauder who posed with their arms sticking out. He also pulled the Titan armor he had designed back onto the screen, setting it aside the sketch.
“I might have been working on a few things, nothing too fancy- Eliksni, friendly or not, wouldn’t be caught dead in a human-made gear. So, all of this is just a few ideas that popped by.” he settled in a chair by Vipeks and slid the pad to him. “I doubt this would’ve been very comfortable.” He hoped he didn’t seem too eager to help- but this was very exciting! He’d been working hard at garnering a small alliance with a few of the clutches around Trostland, and Vipeks wandering through motivated him to continue his work further.
"Well, I guess wouldn't know, I'm no Servitor nor Archon, but Ether's supposed to have everything any Eliksni would need to be healthy. But there's no harm in trying out other things... The biggest comfort issue I can see might be the secondary arms, see," they pause to gesture to their own gear "Eliksni often wear half-plates instead of full plates because of our secondary arms. It makes putting a full plate on a little challenging unless we can put it on like a human would put on a jacket. Even that's a little awkward, with how our secondary arms are set closer to our spine than the primary set."
The drumming of their claws stops, and they lean in a little to get a better look. "I'm not saying full plate isn't possible, just a challenge to make functional and comfortable. If you could..." Another thoughtful pause. "If you could extend the holes for primary arms to the back, and then add a piece to clip into place between the sets of arms once the armor's on, that would work out well. Comfortable and easy to wear. Does that make sense? I can try drawing it out if what I said doesn't make sense, but...I'm definitely no artist."
