let's remember some stuff we know from book!go pt.2
crowley and aziraphale DOES actually have a free will. ("being a demon, of course, was supposed to mean you had no free will. but you couldn't hang around humans for very long without learning a thing or two.") (1)
the Arrangment est. 1020s
there was a dalek during armageddon (you know. that lil' pepper-pot-like-guy-which-just-skidded-down-the-trap-and-fell-over-the-bottom-in-front-of-newt)
this little journey aziraphale had, while he was trying to get a new body. it was hillarious. (such a shame it wasn't in the show.) "oh good lord, i'm on the american tv"
"oh, i accidentally turned someone to the almighty. well, that was quiet unexpected, but welcomed event."
and aziraphale speaks german, french and chinese during this journey ("do you speak german?", "do you speak french?" and "i don't speak chinese.")
hastur noticed crowley was bluffing with the plant mister full of "holy" water. this little drop just slipped on crowley's hand and did nothing to him.
wensleydale's real name probably is jeremy (it was widely believed, but nobody used this name, not even his parents, who called him youngster)
crowley once had vivaldi (at least, four seasons, to be precise), "the travelling willburys" and bach in his car, until the bentley changed them all to the best of queen
and crowley liked handel's water music
did i mention that crowley took a jeep after Almostaggeden?
aziraphale has a computer. and he definitely knows how to use it properly. AND it's quiet modern (2)
"just remember i'll have known that, deep down inside, you were just enough of a bastard to be worth liking." (and they're holding hands during this scene)
when aziraphale and crowley found out The Boy Is Wrong, they had a very interesting dialog about gomorrah. to be fair, the topic was about what would hell (and heaven) do to crowley and aziraphale, when they discover this mistake. crowley said "your lot get ineffable mercy" and aziraphale answered: "yes? did you ever visit gomorrah?". "sure. there was this great little tavern where you could get these terrific fermented date-palm cocktails with nutmeg and crushed lemongrass-" "i meant afterwards." "oh." (3)
sometimes serious man in dark suits tried to insult aziraphale and make him sell the bookshop to rebuild it to Something-Useful-For-Soho-What-A-Shame-That-Paper-Burns-So-Well. but after aziraphale had talked to them... they'd never come back.
"just because you're an angel doesn't mean you have to be a fool."
and everyone (4) suspects aziraphale being some part of the mafia. like, who could possibly be THAT good in doing one's accounts. there must be a murder anywhere.
aziraphale watched a documental film about gorillas making nests and "the exorcist" (5)
crowley thought to capture hastur in the cassette and then leave it in the bentley to turn it to the best of queen, but he assumed It-Is-Too-Much
"aziraphale? is that you? nice dress" and "aren't you going to introduce me to your new body?"
anathema had a bread knife during the car-accident. she even said she could use it properly (6)
aziraphale immediately switched from "my dear" to "madam".
"goodnight, miss. get in, angel" ah. well, that explained it, she had been perfectly safe after all
(1) so the same thing could be said about aziraphale, too.
(2) in aziraphale's point of view. the book says that this computer was slow, plasticky one, which means it was made at least at 1970s
(3) like. what do YOU ever think when you hear about sodom or gomorrah? angels, angels, sinners, will you destroy everything if there aren't at least 50 saint people, then 45, then 40, 30, 20, 10* and... you know, what happened next. AND crowley just: "oh, that lil' tavern? yeah... kinda liked it. oh... mgh"
*yes, i'm holding a bible, what would you do, i'm in another town.
(4) at least the tax authorities. and all of soho. like, this man has been here for who-knows-how-long and he barely sells one book in a year. yet the bookshop is still running. so. how is that even possible? mafia. he must be part of the mafia. don't mess with this man.
(5) aziraphale refers to "the exorcist" (1973), but probably it was in the book "the exorcist" by w.p. blatty (1971). he did it during conversation with madame tracy**, when shadwell interrupted them.
**not so long ago i realised that aziraphale used two versions of this appeal. okaaay
(6) good girl. you have to know how to protect yourself when you're in the middle of nowhere
