The Price I Pay || Hannele & Open
Hannele kept walking, focusing on the crackle of leaves under her feet and her sense of direction in an effort to tame her irritation:Â âThe woods are lovely, you just picked the wrong time.,â she said without looking up. Though of course that depended on oneâs species. Then again, someone who didnât need to fear someone like her wouldnât have reacted this fearful, would they? No, she ruled out werewolf and angel.Â
She suddenly stopped in her tracks, turning around and deriving immense delight from the swiftness with which she could move her body. If that looked scary, so be it. âDo you actually live in Dorsten? Otherwise, weâre probably walking in the wrong direction. How long did you walk for until you âŠ. until we met?â
While what she said about the forest may have been true, Elisa was still wary of the whole thing. She liked her creature comforts, so to speak, and the woods were the farthest thing from her watery home that there possibly was. âIâll take your word for it,â she said, folding her arms across her chest.Â
âI actually live by the cove, I was visiting a friend nearby. I was walking for a little while.â She knew she should have gone straight home after saying goodbye to her friend, but the little ounce of curiosity she had got the best of her, and this is what came of that.Â
