It's Just a Feeling ll Hector and Eliwood
It was always an odd thing, Valentines Day. Since he was young, Hector had always been getting comments from those around him. His brother, his servants, even his parents back when they were still around.
When do you think you’ll settle down with a nice girl? Hector, you have it in you to make such a wonderful father! You’ll be quite the looker when you grow up. Whoever you marry sure will be lucky!
Hector always laughed or shrugged off their questions. "I don’t know," he’d say. But truthfully, romance was never something important to the lord. He was more of a fighter than a lover, and the bonds with his friends and people meant a world more than any romantic interest could have.
Now and then, though, Hector couldn’t help but feel his thoughts and emotions conflict with one another. His mind wandered back to just the last time he and his life long friend Eliwood had met up.
The two had spent the day together as they normally would; the shoved one another around, joked and argued, and laughed. But now and then the two would grow quiet. Eliwood’s eyes met Hector’s, and in the silence and awkwardness of the moment Hector felt his heart race.
He was left embarrassed and confused. Why, the only time Hector’s heart had ever reacted such a way was on the battlefield! The excitement of battle always had him thrilled, but… this? What was this?
Hector struggled for the next few weeks trying to decipher these odd feelings. Sometimes he would just be lying in bed, and the image of Eliwood alone would leave him flustered and confused. With every person he asked for assistance, he was given the same answer. That sounds like love, Lord Hector!
Knowing there was only one thing left he could do, he had sent Eliwood a letter letting him know that he’d be stopping by for a visit. He had to speak with him personally, no matter how nervous he was to do so.
