Today's wasp of the day is Holophris coriacea!

This steely blue marble was previously believed to be of Afrotropical— however in 2024, they've been found elsewhere in the Arabian peninsula. Both of these regions can be considered hotbeds for unique species and the occurrence of the same species in both gives us major clues into better understanding the complicated web that is wasp taxonomy.

Found in the US states of Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska. Little is known of its behavior or ecology aside from typical behaviors of the other pocket gophers.
