some of the ready-made prints that Iāve been working on, organized in pairs. at the bottom are some of the washi shapes I used to block certain layers of prints. I had fun experimenting with layering and rotating the blocks in these images and I think theyād be interesting to cut apart and rearrange sometime later

better pictures of my orihon! I used one of my sheets of paper for the cover!
I ended up using some of my terra flora prints to make another orihon, using the chine colle process to collage the cut up prints onto the stronger paper. Itās not visible in these pictures, but I used some of the paper I made in class for the cover!

More rough printing experiments!
I've been working on the orihon book, using test prints from my test blocks. I started two separate books, but decided to put them together midway through the process. Unfortunately they had been cut to slightly different sizes, something I didn't realize, so I need to work on making sure my measurements are all the same and that the book aligns correctly. Practicing the attachment process was very helpful and I think this is a good start to this project
an update on my terra flora project. I finished carving the second block and was able to print! Iām excited about how it turned out, though I definitely need to work on making cleaner printsĀ
Iāve also been printing my test blocks to experiment with colors and have been thinking about how I want to organize my prints into an orihon book!
apologies for not updating sooner, but I have been working! The first photo is all of the paper Iāve made this semester in order. the next two photos are close ups of that organization. The bottom left photo is of all the gampi paper Iāve made and the bottom right is tossa fiber with various plants added in.Ā
photos of my work for midterm
I made paper today. the first three images all use the tossa fiber combined with those pink petals. the second image has hibiscus tea mixed in as well, while the third image has spearmint mixed in. the next row of close-ups is of an undercooked gampi fiber, where the first image has a lot of bark left in. The last image is of crushed purple basil flowers mixed with the tossa fiber and itās beginning to bleed. I look forward to seeing how these papers dry and hopefully experimenting with more materials!
a quick update on my progress in printing my test plates. My technical skills have definitely been improving (the prints move in chronological order starting from the top row), and I'm excited to continue experimenting with the colors and orientations of my blocks!
