AI Slop: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)

God I love John Oliver.

The heart of his show seems to be 'how can I spend as much corporate money undoing, or at least trying to fix, the issues that I am reporting on?' and he does a fantastic job. From giving to the still-rolling jubilee that is now Undue Medical Debt to this, using money spent reporting on AI slop to pay a real artist who made an absolute absurdist masterpiece, he's the king of 'do what you can'.

One of the core questions most folks I know wrestle with is "how can I exist in this capitalist hellscape and do the least amount of damage and the most amount of good" and John Oliver has answered that question with "be funny, inform your neighbors with honesty and integrity, treat your crew well, and when possible pay those who've been hurt cash money to help them counteract the money that's been used to hurt them." That's.. pretty much the best answer you can give.

I accidentally went to the bookstore again. I just attended the Wicked musical and decided to read the books. It’s been over twenty years since I read anything Oz related. I also bought Atwood and the writing exercises for my personal and professional development. Of course I had to buy at least one thriller.
