As a New Year's resolution, I'm trying to be authentic in my drawing.
You know, "to move forward, sometimes you have to retreat". I feel like lately I've lost track many times, so I'll try to focus. It is no easy task, because my head is a party and everyone is invited. But I will go to that point gradually.
First, I flirted with the Cheesecake. It's great. Reminds me of the time when I discovered the art of Adam Hughes and Frank Cho, and just could not stop drawing pretty girls scantily clad.
But going back much more, I remember being fascinated by the bizarre art, full of ugly and strange creatures. I have here some very crazy drawings, done in pencil. I have to scan them, that you may know what I mean.
Sooo, let's try some of that stuff.
This is a drawing that I made to decorate the wall of my workspace. I love the idea of animals with human faces. I had almost forgotten what it is to draw what the hell you want, although no sense. Very liberating.

Wicket video process.
Practice, practice, and practice.
I'm trying to be faster when drawing and coloring. For that try to measure the time in everything I do, using the Camtasia video program as a stopwatch. My intention was to finish the little Ewok in an hour, but the test was lengthened more than 30 minutes... dammit. I'll get it next time. Aniway, Wicket say “hello” to everyone. So cute. It´s simple, but I liked the result, so I uploaded the drawing to my Society6 page.

Brief guide of tools.
Given the multitude of questions I get about my method of work, I'll put here a brief guide of my favorite tools. Hope That helps.
Sorry if I do not dwell too, but you know, my Inglés is not very good.
Ready or not, here we go;
TOOLS
My work is entirely digital. For that I used a Wacom Intuos Draw tablet (8.25″ x 6.7″). Before using other brands, but on the advice of a friend I spent the Wacom, and the difference is just spectacular. In terms of size, it is a matter of taste, I prefer a work area small and simple.
For sketching, inking and coloring, I use Paint Tool SAI. A really good program and very easy to use, the brush stroke is simply faultless. My favorite tool of this program is "Lineart Layer", something like photoshop pen, but more easier to tweak as you wish. This program is also ideal if you are starting with the drawing, and looking for a program without any complications, but with a professional finish.
For etouching, apply filter and change sizes, plus add fonts of letters and other symbols, of course go to Photoshop CS6. Surely today you can find something new, I'm not up to date with news from Adobe, but I'm a dinosaur and don't like trying new things.
CANVAS
To my drawings I usually use the standard measure of American comics; 11 x 17 inches (27.94 x 43.18 cm). On the Internet you will find many templates with guides added so you will not have to rack their brains thinking in the margins.
Some free templates here, here and here.
OTHER FAVORITE TOOLS
Recently discovered and still stunned; Building Face Paths for Photoshop of Freddie W. Williams. Thirty plots for Photoshop, with which you can make buildings in comfort. Seriously, it is money well spent.
Another really useful tool - and free as well - is the Perspective Path tool. You can download it and see the video guide right here.
A LITTLE TIP
When the ink drawing is finished, i apply these settings in Photoshop.
-Duplicate layer, in multiply mode. -Lowering the opacity to 50%. -Apply filter "Gaussian Blur" in a radius of 3.2 pixels.
With this, the line appears slightly blurred and in my opinion, much more pleasing to the eye.
Finally, I go to the tab Image / Adjustments / Levels and Output Levels, and climb the black arrow to the 35. With this the inking appears a dark gray instead of absolutely black. Which makes it look more natural.
Well, many things are in the pipeline but do not want to bore. See you in another post
If you have any doubt, your questions are welcome in my email; [email protected].
