Love isn’t how you feel. It’s what you do.
Madeleine L'Engle, A Wind in the Door
Get alone with God and preach His Word into your mind until your heart sings with confidence that you are new and cared for.
John Piper
You may fear that the Lord has passed you by, but it is not so: he who counts the stars, and calls them by their names, is in no danger of forgetting his own children. He knows your cause thoroughly as if you were the only creature he ever made, or the only saint he ever loved. Approach him and be at peace. Charles Spurgeon
"Define yourself radically as one beloved by God. This is the true self. Every other identity is illusion.” ― Brennan Manning
Hi lovies, So I'm trying to figure out where I want to share real life things. So for now... http://ohdearliz.blogspot.com
Find the things that stir your affections for Christ and saturate your life in them. Find the things that rob you of that affection and walk away from them. That’s the Christian life as easy as I can explain it for you.
-Matt Chandler

Grace proclaims the awesome truth that all is gift. All that is good is ours not by right but by the sheer bounty of a gracious God. While there is much we may have earned--our degree and our salary, our home and garden, and a good night's sleep--all this is possible only because we have been given so much: life itself, eyes to see and hands to touch, a mind to shape ideas, and a heart to beat with love. We have been given God in our souls and Christ in our flesh. We have the power to believe where others deny, to hope where others despair, to love where others hurt. This and so much more is sheer gift; it is not reward for our faithfulness, our generous disposition, or our heroic life of prayer. Even our fidelity is a gift, "If we but turn to God," said St. Augustine, "that itself is a gift of God." My deepest awareness of myself is that I am deeply loved by Jesus Christ and I have done nothing to earn it or deserve it. -Brennan Manning
This sounds very simple and maybe even trite, but very few people know that they are loved without condition or limits.
Henri Nouwen
Thoughts that make me happy: - A home in the country someday. Wood burning fireplace and a big barn and two horses and some goats and lots of puppies. Last Sunday I visited a friend's church for the first time and it was just the sweetest little country church at the top of the prettiest hill with the loveliest of people. I passed so many beautiful pastures and horse farms and pretty rivers. We sang old church tunes and hymns that I remember singing as a little girl and the people just loved on you like you were a long lost daughter. It was such a gift and comfort from the Lord to be with them and so timely. - Autumn. so golden and wonderful. More blankets at night. Paving the way for christmastime (best time in all of time!) My mom surprise gifted me a tin of salted caramel hot chocolate + a balsam & cedar candle in the mail the other day and they are both heavenly! Moms are so magical. - Working with kids is seriously the most joyful job I've ever known! p.s. plate of cookies to whoever can guess what record is playing in my room during the morning hours these days!

The followers of Christ have been called to peace… . And they must not only have peace but also make it. And to that end they renounce all violence and tumult. In the cause of Christ nothing is to be gained by such methods… . His disciples keep the peace by choosing to endure suffering themselves rather than inflict it on others. They maintain fellowship where others would break it off. They renounce hatred and wrong. In so doing they over-come evil with good, and establish the peace of God in the midst of a world of war and hate.
